I think there was one in the NYT this week as well (must be a slow week for them).
Spirit Halloween stores have utterly ruined halloween, from what I can see. They're worse than the Gap as far as homogenizing culture goes.

Girls who do the sexy halloween thing as an excuse to get their normally covered up tits out are lame. I have a friend who does this every year and it annoys the hell out of me. Maybe if she had better tits it wouldn't, I don't know. Anyway, my friends and I have this anti-sexy halloween costume thing. Last year we went to a party as the Golden Girls which isn't really sexy unless, you know, that's your thing. Or, of course, you're Blanche.

I dislike bought or rented costumes of any kind. Halloween costumes should be self-assembled, preferably using things a person would not usually consider clothing. I will accept wigs, just about, but not the tinsel kind.
