Boxcar had two really fantastic singles (fantastic mainly because they were shameless New Order facsimiles) and it was all a bit downhill from there.

Gallon Drunk are still going strong. Both live where they are very intense and on album. Their 2014 release "The Soul of the Hour" was great. Dark, hypnotic, aninmalistic grooves. Like "Exile on Main Street" but better.

Gallon Drunk at Phoenix 97 is still the best gig I've ever been to, don't seem to actually own any of their music though, used to have one CD but lost it somewhere.

Does anyone remember Calla? They were a revelation at the time, haven't heard anything from them for a while.

the 3rd martha and the muffins album ('this is the ice age') is worth a listenThis is an understatement.
This is an understatement.
Good lord, yes. One of my all-time fave art rock records. I'm sure they're doing quite well with Echo Beach residuals but this is the work that should've defined Martha/Muffins/M+M.

i absoutely love the 'televise' album .. they really were on the verge of crossing over for a short time, but things fell apart both re band and record label.seem to recall they tried to get things going again a few years ago (myspace era !), but their time was over.such a shame.
