just stop and watch s2

Esteban Buttiérrez (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 29 March 2013 03:05 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, season 1 sucks, but the second one is a blast

Darin, Friday, 29 March 2013 03:12 (eleven years ago) link

season one is more fun toward the end in a way than season two. season two tells you they're having fun with music and dramatic leaps but it's not as ridiculous and goofy

☠ ☃ ☠ (mh), Friday, 29 March 2013 03:40 (eleven years ago) link

like, in season one you're thinking it's all dark in the horrible basement and then it ends up being poorly-hatched plans and braindead amnesiac ghosts

☠ ☃ ☠ (mh), Friday, 29 March 2013 03:41 (eleven years ago) link

Jessica Lange reminds me of KatHep in Suddenly Last Summer.

Kathy Bates will be terrorizing Wednesday nights during the fall as Madame LaLaurie – a real life serial killer who mutilated and murdered numerous slaves during the 1830s in New Orleans
Lange and Angela Bassett’s characters will be attempting to “mend the fence” between the Salem witches and the voodoo witches, but it’s unclear if Bassett’s Marie Laveau will be played present day or through flashbacks.

Yay! it's back and it is still ace, even better with what was already a fine cast with Bassett + Bates added.

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Friday, 11 October 2013 00:03 (ten years ago) link

Wasn't that hot on the premiere, but I'm hoping it develops to be as weirdly involving as last season was.

Simon H., Friday, 11 October 2013 01:30 (ten years ago) link

Jessica Lange vs Angela Bassett is looking like a top grade bitch off so far, just as good as it should be.

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Thursday, 17 October 2013 18:49 (ten years ago) link

Fucking loving this once again. Patti fucking lupone!

ACA: not bad, needs more death panels (jjjusten), Friday, 25 October 2013 03:00 (ten years ago) link

I haven't seen this week's episode but I really hope the, uh, naive witch turns out to have more powers than fucking dudes to death because that's a pretty big buzzkill.

(for her)

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Friday, 25 October 2013 03:18 (ten years ago) link

this weeks episode written by the same guy that wrote the x-files episode 'home'!

just sayin, Friday, 25 October 2013 06:38 (ten years ago) link

Might be the best season so far; the levity was necessary. Admittedly pushes it closer to True Blood territory but still, Fleetwood Mac loving swamp witch doing Stevie Nicks dances with her scarf....priceless

akm, Friday, 25 October 2013 22:56 (ten years ago) link

i saw the series premiere of this the other night - or part of it anyway. they used the music from What Lies Beneath. rly shoulda left that alone.

surm, Saturday, 26 October 2013 19:34 (ten years ago) link

ya this is really good right now

watched the first 7 episodes of s2 and this:

It is some wacky parade of the flimsiest and most obvious horror cliches strung together by comically incoherent dialogue and actions and reactions

is so OTM. so far they've covered the Exorcist, the Omen, zombies, nazi doctors, serial killers etc. when do the vampire werewolf mummies show up.

What is this? Knotty pine?!?

mh, Friday, 31 January 2014 01:30 (ten years ago) link

i am pleased with that as an ending.

clouds, Friday, 31 January 2014 05:54 (ten years ago) link

This was roughly one tenth as good as last season. What a waste of an incredible cast.

Simon H., Friday, 31 January 2014 06:06 (ten years ago) link

Most unsatisfying the way they left Misty in hell, they didn't seem very bothered either.

xelab, Friday, 31 January 2014 08:15 (ten years ago) link

yeah, that seemed like an unjust fate.

clouds, Friday, 31 January 2014 13:06 (ten years ago) link

knotty pine line was the best thing abt the finale

johnny crunch, Friday, 31 January 2014 13:35 (ten years ago) link

The Misty thing was doubly unsatisfying since Rabe is by far the best of the younger actresses.

Simon H., Friday, 31 January 2014 14:29 (ten years ago) link

myrtle snow might have been my fave character overall

clouds, Friday, 31 January 2014 14:38 (ten years ago) link

I enjoyed the witch council, wish they had more airtime

If I was to watch one of the first 3 seasons, which? As you may know i prefer dark wit and general creepiness to blood and thunder.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:08 (nine years ago) link

Series 2 in the asylum without doubt.

xelab, Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:12 (nine years ago) link

None of what I've seen from the show seemed all that witty tbh.

Eric H., Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:14 (nine years ago) link

It is a horror series and Faulkner wasn't involved, but it has a very talented cast.

xelab, Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:28 (nine years ago) link

you won't like this Morbz. I didn't.

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:42 (nine years ago) link

I wouldn't listen to this fucker.

xelab, Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:43 (nine years ago) link

Asylum (S2) is by far the best but I can't imagine you being into any of it really

Simon H., Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:48 (nine years ago) link

It is some wacky parade of the flimsiest and most obvious horror cliches strung together by comically incoherent dialogue and actions and reactions

bears repeating

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 8 October 2014 21:56 (nine years ago) link

so what?

clouds, Thursday, 9 October 2014 03:53 (nine years ago) link

Dr Morbius, I don't think you would like this either. I have only seen the first season and while I found it watchable and entertaining, it was also quite lacking in taste, intelligence, imagination, and sense. I can't remember any wit, dark or otherwise, and it even creepy IMO.
I kind of enjoyed it but sometimes I like things that are dumb and trashy.

MrDasher, Thursday, 9 October 2014 14:19 (nine years ago) link

Not even creepy, that's meant to say

MrDasher, Thursday, 9 October 2014 14:21 (nine years ago) link

OK, thx y'all. I guess i'll watch those last two Rob Zombie movies instead.

this horrible, rotten slog to rigor mortis (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 9 October 2014 14:24 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, def try to resist the urge to use my taste in horror as an anti-barometer this one time.

Eric H., Thursday, 9 October 2014 14:24 (nine years ago) link

yeah The Lords of Salem is worth catching at least xp

Simon H., Thursday, 9 October 2014 14:39 (nine years ago) link

I only use your taste in comedy as an anti-barometer, honeybunch.

this horrible, rotten slog to rigor mortis (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 9 October 2014 14:50 (nine years ago) link

The first season was the only passable one, IMO.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Thursday, 9 October 2014 15:12 (nine years ago) link

def enjoying this season

v good acting this ep particularly kathy bates w the doctor & denis ohare w the viking

johnny crunch, Thursday, 23 October 2014 19:57 (nine years ago) link

the anachronistic music numbers by jess lange are p dope too imo

johnny crunch, Thursday, 23 October 2014 20:03 (nine years ago) link

I've read about this show a bit but never seen it, because every time I think I know what it is about, I read something that goes completely contrary to my expectations, and makes me stop wanting to see it.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 23 October 2014 20:12 (nine years ago) link

Considering that season 2 featured Nazis, aliens and demons...

just1n3, Thursday, 23 October 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

I really hate that they threw aliens in there so carelessly. GORPLOK WAS NOT AMUSED

LB-426 (latebloomer), Thursday, 23 October 2014 20:26 (nine years ago) link

Considering that season 2 featured Nazis, aliens and demons...

Exactly! I thought it was some horror show, but then it sounded silly, or campy, or intentionally ridiculous, or just weird, or surreal, or funny, but never scary, so I had/have no idea. It'd be like a new police drama debuting, and then getting confused by people talking about all the singing clowns and Nazis.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 24 October 2014 00:07 (nine years ago) link

yeah, somebody told me the whole thing was going to change. After this episode we tried to figure it out. Does the Polk family follow them to LA? Does somebody else move into the house? Then we saw the preview and it had the guy who bought the hotel from last season, so who knows.

dan selzer, Thursday, 13 October 2016 15:05 (seven years ago) link

so the weird cannibal people are actual roanoke descendants, or just carrying on the work?

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Thursday, 13 October 2016 15:46 (seven years ago) link

neighbors just helping out I think?

I actually like this season. I mean, it's a stupid show for sure and a guilty pleasure, but I feel like this season has been nicely restrained compared to the last few, which were filled with crazy edits and so many references and characters it was hard to keep up with or care. I thought last night's Polk family was a nice little Texas Chainsaw bit.
