Marlins rookie Chris Valaika, who started at 1B, said he never played the position before, not even in Little League. He mishandled his first chance for an error.
If they were in another division I'd feel a little sorry for them -- the players and fans, anyway. In the meantime, O_O.

Giancarlo Stanton should be embarressed of himself in how he has played this weekend in Cincy. I know playing for a crooked owner on a bad team is a bad deal, but Stanton has walked around like a zombie all series. 3! errors in the field and probalby should have just been charged for a fourth jogging around and not cutting off a ball then ole's the cut off throw to the pitchers mound. He's just as bad at the plate.
Miami's manager isn't helping leaving his young starter 100 pitches into a game to load the bases with no one out then leave Jon Rauch to pitch his whole way out of the jam on his own only getting pulled after like 50 pitches.
FUGLY.

Marlins hitting coach Tino Martinez was poised to resign after a player notified the team Martinez erupted in anger unjustly and grabbed him by his neck and neck chain, according to multiple sources. But sources said team owner Jeffrey Loria, who made the decision to hire Martinez, nixed the idea, at least for now.
But sources said team owner Jeffrey Loria, who made the decision to hire Martinez, nixed the idea, at least for now.
One Marlins player, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity, said Martinez has been verbally abusive to players on a number of occasions since the start of spring training in February. A few players have complained to Redmond about Martinez's behavior.“It’s all shocked everybody,” the player said. “He uses intimidation. It’s been a problem since day one.”According to sources who have witnessed Martinez's profanity-laced eruptions, other players who have been attacked verbally by Martinez include outfielder Justin Ruggiano, infielder Chris Valaika and minor-league infielder Matt Downs. Another source said the list of players is much larger than that.

Miami Marlins President David Samson will be a castaway on the new season of "Survivor."The series begins Feb. 26 on CBS. The cast also includes an ex-NFL cheerleader and former NBA All-Star Cliff Robinson. Asked why he thinks he'll win Survivor, Samson, who once convinced Miami to contribute over $350 million to build a new park in the middle of the recession, an accomplishment which eventually cost the city's mayor his job, Samson said, "I always win, because people underestimate me."
