Given the way that contortionist was uh contorting herself in the last shot of Pod in the brothel, I don't think his skill with his dick is what's being broadly hinted at.

That Hold Steady song totally ruined the ending.

We had the shonky rip and were enraged and then we just watched the proper ending again after to see it as it was intended and it was even worse

I liked it in theory, but the longer the song played the more I wanted to turn the sound off.

So I guess I'm the only one who thought it was awesome and funny.

What was happening with Stannis and Melisandre on the beach by the way? Are there any other legit Baratheons knocking about at this point or does she know about Gendry?

There are so many second tier characters wandering around now that it's really difficult to remember who's who and who's on which side.

I thought the song was awesome because I'm an unrepentant Hold Steady stan but I found it weird that they used it as the credits tune for this particular ep, following this particular shot.

I haven't seen the first 2 eps of this season yet, not sure who has been introduced.

Terrific episode with a lot of great stuff going on big and small, from the sequence of Theon being chased through the forest, to Tyrion slowly dragging his chair to the head of the table. And also the scene in RiverRun where the soldier keeps firing arrows at the boat and missing.

I think Emilia Clarke/Daenerys is much better this season; never been a hater, but she's def coming into her own a lot more and she kicked ass in the scene with the king. Surprised she was willing to trade one of her dragons, but I suspect she'll get it back by force when she leaves, again.

I've always thought it was unfair to Emilia Clarke because of the material she's been given so far. She did fairly well, I thought, with the later parts of Season 1, and last year she was stuck in no-confidence mode.

Anyway, GOOD EPISODE:

- Blackfish == pimp, fires the arrow and turns away before it's even landed
- Jon Snow == not annoying, though still emo
- Arya's goodbye with Hot Pie unexpectedly affecting
- "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" has a much more melodic tune than I assumed it would

that horse head crop circle thing was creepy and cool. nice callback to the first episode of season one where the white walkers had apparently arranged the wildling corpses in a pattern.

she seemed a) pretty unlikely by the time that scene was through to piss on a slaver should one catch fire, b) pretty pointed in her inquiry about the loyalties of all 8000 Unsullied once they were hers to command, c) pretty careful to remove the translator from the situation.

Given that the dragon is ultimately a free agent that's imprinted on her and she now commands the city's infantry, I fully expect a bloodbath and will be disappointed if I don't get one.

The Theon/Bolton storyline was difficult enough in the books. Finding it incomprehensible in the series.

I agree with that. The changes have made that story make less sense.

Were we even introduced to the Bolton bastard at the fall of Winterfell? I've already forgotten.

I liked the awkwardness of the Lannister council meeting with all the protracted chair shuffling. For true versimilitude it should have had Tyrian accidentally spilling coffee all over his papers.

lame episode this week, tbh. the stupid Pod/whorehouse stuff, the confusing horsechase, and then way too much people-in-agony tortureporny shrieking, to be honest. (a little theon, breanne, woman in labour, even jamie.)

continued to enjoy the use of interpreter/subtitles though - nice little character piece (even if cersei's "clever secret plan" is stupidly facile). and thought Robb Stark was great in his couple of scenes.

I'm a hater and still am, though Kit Harrington has turned out infinitely worse, IMO. Last season the writing made his character extra stupid, but I still think he's a weak link, acting-wise, and wish that his dog could replace him.
