Serious? For a second I asked myself if that was her, then decided it wasn't.

absolutely lost it at his delivery of "I can't tell you how touched I am"

I actually had to stop and rewind it

Number None, Monday, 29 April 2013 23:54 (eleven years ago) link

it's impressively terrible

my favorite gillen line delivery in this entire show is "PLAY WITH HER AAAASS"

christmas candy bar (al leong), Monday, 29 April 2013 23:57 (eleven years ago) link

his Carcetti was kinda weird but he's really breaking new ground here

lol al

Part of me wonders if by now he'd be even worse playing in his own accent, after muffing up all these others

Charles Dance really is the best tho

gillen going for some soft spoken brythonic thing maybe? it is weird but appropriately crepey

Jamie becoming one of my favourite characters in the show at exactly the equivalent point he started becoming one of my favourites in the book, great work from Nicholaj Coster Waldau.

I love how booby her dresses are. She's like Game of Thrones catwoman

i keep thinking about the phrase 'booby dresses' since this post

sometimes there's even like an american twang in there, i just dk anymore

is he delib trying to make him sound like a un-nobleman acting posh, introducing that unsettling fake note

It's so fucking weird. It's got a touch of Irish about it but the rhythm is a bit "I vont to suck your blooood"

Tioc Norris (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 30 April 2013 06:58 (eleven years ago) link

I kind of like his ridiculous accent, but I just like to think of it as some weirdo accent from wherever his character is from. Tyrion's is a bit funnier, but I'm cool with it too.

Gukbe, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 07:07 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, I keep thinking booby dresses everytime I see Marjorie. It feels like the nearer we get to the wedding the boobier the dress becomes.

Also bummed there was no movement on the Podrick Sexual Prowess front. I hope that pays off.

tbf we did get to learn the finer points of ricky & bianca's inevitable union instead

Loved the scene with Tywin, Tyrion and Cersei at the end. This speculation might be lolworthy to anyone who's read the books but it feels like the Tyrrells aren't that interested in dicking over the Lannisters, and that Tywin doesn't have a clue what Littlefinger's planning. So this whole thing will probably end in Sansa's escape rather than the opposite. I guess Shae will be crucial here at some point?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 08:55 (eleven years ago) link

Also Stannis finally got interesting in this episode, although his homelife is so shitty it explains why he'll go to such extreme lengths to get out of the house. Was there any explanation for the pickled babies?

cracking up

max, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:04 (eleven years ago) link

if you really wanted to bend over backward for gillen you could argue that littlefinger's weird accent is the accent of a small northern lord attempting to lose his rural accent to fit in better in the southern cities. but game of thrones is pretty inconsistent w/ accents--a lot of the northmen have solid northern accents but not all--davos still sounds irish--thoros of myr should by all rights have some kind of european-ish accent if he's from myr

max, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:06 (eleven years ago) link

Davos sounds Geordie!

beric

max, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:10 (eleven years ago) link

but, yeah, point stands--everyone should have regional accents similar to their fellow countrymen

max, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:11 (eleven years ago) link

beric is from the stormlands, so he should sound like stannis and robert and renly (none of whom had the same accent iirc)

max, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:12 (eleven years ago) link

Same discrepancy between the older and younger Stark kids.

Tormund Giantsbane seems to have some kind of Scando accent.

I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:18 (eleven years ago) link

The discrepancy between the Stark kids can be sort-of handwaved away because some of them would have been closely brought up by Catelyn.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:20 (eleven years ago) link

Basically if you have a posh mum you tend to talk like her until you get older and start caring about sounding more like your friends.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:22 (eleven years ago) link

I think the Baratheons may have been raised separately, Robert was a ward of Jon Aryn with Ned Stark.

I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:23 (eleven years ago) link

oh hmm. but then why do robert and ned both have pronounced northern accents given that they were raised in the vale
