I have tried the Miz Way. I found that trying to rest a 360 controller against the small of my back / on my neck kinda awkward as it is plastic and pointy, and the constant shuffling outweighed the alleged sythesthesia of the whole experience. THey just have to be on, go into the menu, select "Trance Vibration" and set the controllers you're not using to play to "trance mode"

and then put them all up your butt.

ESPECIALLY the one you're using to control the game!

This game is a lot more challenging than I thought it was going to be. I haven't put a ton of time in, but so far I've yet to unlock level 4. I did finally get to the level 3 boss tonight, but damn - it's a long battle especially when you don't know what to do and there's shit flying every which way. One try exhausts me too much to immediately try again and again. It seems like the game gets harder (throws more stuff at you) as you level up your guy too? It's frustrating because I've heard that the game really soars when you reach level 5 anf right now I don't feel like I'll ever be able to get there...

If you're trying to get everything on an 8-chain, stop doing that-- you'll go mental. staccato claps is the way to take shit out when it gets hairy, and NEVER stop moving your cursor. That stuff allowed me to beat the game (albeit not yet on direct assault which is truly BRUTAL). i don't think it throws more at you as you get stronger, so much as it throws more at you when you get further.

also, the level 3 boss is a great place to use your overdrives (particularly in his second phase where he is sending thousands of little robofish at you). but then again, half the magic of the game is figung this stuff out for yourself.

and yeah, level 5 fuckin' RULES.

Finally put in the time to make it to the level 5 boss, though I didn't quite finish the game (either ran out of time or got shot down, I'm not sure), though I think if only I had thirty more seconds I would have been done. That last level is especially exhausting - I need a recharge before trying again.

I must say though, I really love the level four boss the most - giant running man.

Awesome game. I'm looking forward to trying some of the unlock stuff (and unlocking more stuff) - and improving on some time attack scores.

five months pass...

I just ordered this and I can't wait.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 12:49 (fifteen years ago) link

love this on xlba

stevie, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 14:02 (fifteen years ago) link

I ordered the old PS2 version off eBay - it's freaking pricey! Even without the vibrating dildo!

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 14:21 (fifteen years ago) link

so this is some sort of big Tron rip off yeh?

Ste, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 14:30 (fifteen years ago) link

Tracer how much did you pay? I got it on Amazon for just over twenty quid

Ste, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 14:32 (fifteen years ago) link

I can't remember how much I charged tissp for my old copy, back at the top of the thread.

JimD, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:05 (fifteen years ago) link

I've checked my email archives. £27, with free P&P.

JimD, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:06 (fifteen years ago) link

19.99

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 19:27 (fifteen years ago) link

I mean that's not bad, but for a four-year-old used game..?

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 19:28 (fifteen years ago) link

It was going for A LOT more before the updated HD version came out

Jeff LeVine, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 19:57 (fifteen years ago) link

on amazon it's going for silly prices still from some market place sellers

Ste, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:38 (fifteen years ago) link

got this today, was slightly miffed at the battered packaging but hey ho the game still works.

So this is Panzer Dragoon with clever graphics/music interaction. Fun for a short while I guess, can't believe i paid twenty quid for it.

We did tell you to buy 360 instead of a PS3, Ste!

JimD, Friday, 15 August 2008 12:38 (fifteen years ago) link

haha, i think i'm getting one as well !

Ste, Friday, 15 August 2008 15:42 (fifteen years ago) link

The leaderboards and stuff help make it more addicting (I know I played a lot of score attack trying to top my brother). Also each level is better than the the one before (sort of), but the last level is something way better than everything that came before. Make sure to play through to the final level!

Jeff LeVine, Friday, 15 August 2008 20:12 (fifteen years ago) link

Vib Ribbon is so much better. Why never in USA, Vib Ribbon? I love you so. :(

Holy shit. Between this and Fahrenheit it's like I've now finally played the two games I've always wanted to play without even realizing they existed before. One, all sensation. The other, all angst. Both - fairly easy for the most part! Perfect!

eight years pass...

What is the best/cheapest/easiest way to play this game rn? I currently have no consoles (but could borrow something or buy one for cheap, possibly). Is Child of Eden a perfect substitute?

Actually I have a Dreamcast sitting in a box somewhere and I know that it's p easy to burn games for it! I wonder if the Japanese release has enough english text in it?

laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 September 2016 15:19 (seven years ago) link

i didn't like child of eden very much for reasons i don't quite recall right now - the mechanics are pretty much identical (as long as you're not playing the lolkinect version) but i dunno it just didn't gel the way rez did

i really want to play rez infinite on the psvr!

I really like Child of Eden but I can't play it very much or for very long (I have the lolPS Move version) because it's seriously physically exhausting. I break a sweat like I'm playing Just Dance or something.

NO ONE TOLD ME REZ IS COMING BACK

omg and VR

i started playing videogames to avoid physical activity ffs, the last thing i need is the cold implacable eye of a kinect judging me for bumbling my way through disney fantasia: music evolved

playstation vr is going to suck without the more powerful PS4 right?

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Thursday, 22 September 2016 15:57 (seven years ago) link

i think it's got some additional processing power built-in to help it render at the framerates required to stop you barfing all over your couch every time you put it on

i preordered one for some reason but really the only thing i wanna play on it is rez and i dunno if i can justify like a £750 total investment in a rez vr machine
