lol yeah jorah is gold with comedy princess bride cheeseball hunk on the case now

he's slowly taking on an "old gill" from the simpsons physicality. also that bloke looks ridiculous, i thought wwe wrestler, but princess bride cheeseball is a good description.

i think she even likes the silver fox more than jorah.

i'd thought the big scene i'd been bracing myself for was jon snow getting his eyes pecked out at first. bit confusing

all the pure interweb shock seems a teensy bit exaggerated considering the overegged marital bliss + doors shutting + caetlyn ruh-roh scene before

roose bolton was superb as said. i don't even know how well he tallies with the book character but he always seemed like great casting the first moment you laid eyes on him

Just rewatched the last ten minutes. Another great detail is a shot of Frey relishing a gulp of wine as the slaughter unfolds.

Somewhere Jack Gleason is breathing a sigh of relief.

Grey Worm has sick fighting skills and he moves with such grace. I hope there is more of him in the next season.

Best spear fighting since Brad Pitt and Eric Bana in Troy imo.

Gukbe, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 04:53 (ten years ago) link

i far prefer the joffrey/sansa/tyrell/tywin stuff to this week's gang, though now most of them are dead i guess there won't be as much about them.

OTM, timely cull of boring characters IMO.

Dunno how Westeros succession works but given that John Snow is illegitimate and everyone thinks Bran is dead, does this mean that Tyrion is now running the north/Lord of Winterfell?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 09:04 (ten years ago) link

Genuine lol at Arya knocking that dude out though.

Also, trying to work out at what point Lord Bolton was supposed to have been tapped up by the Lannisters. Sometime around that scene when he released Jaime and Brienne?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 09:08 (ten years ago) link

Kevin McCloud is brilliant as Roose Bolton. Hasn't even changed his voice. Kept expecting him to ask Walder Frey how much over budget the castle had gone.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 09:12 (ten years ago) link

In Westeros it's prob a good idea to never call - or even SAY you're going to call - your son Eddard. A bad end is ahead for any Ned.

Same here - couldn't have put the face with the name before now.

What are the rules of the Lord of Light/re-animator stuff? These people are, like, DEAD dead, right? We're not looking at any Starkzombies in Season 4, are we?

Also, trying to work out at what point Lord Bolton was supposed to have been tapped up by the Lannisters. Sometime around that scene when he released Jaime and Brienne?

why did nobody mention this kinda weird act? like robb practically disowned his own mother for releasing jaime and then when baldy did it he was just what, too busy to care?

... (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 10:24 (ten years ago) link

I don't think Robb even knew about it.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 10:26 (ten years ago) link

I guess he never found out Jaime was recaptured. Though he would have done from that bearded guy who severed the hand.

... (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 10:49 (ten years ago) link

the bearded guy is one of roose's men

max, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 10:59 (ten years ago) link

it does seem weird that not a soul would have told robb, or that we didn't even have a scene of roose telling people to be quiet on it.

... (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:04 (ten years ago) link

well, someone would have had to send a raven, so maybe they're v strictly controlled? or all dead like in winterfell.

✌_✌ (c sharp major), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:06 (ten years ago) link

Robb didn't appear to know that his sister had been married off to a Lannister either. He wasn't really that up on several things.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:08 (ten years ago) link

max, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:08 (ten years ago) link

just like twitter last night, same shit different ravens imo

... (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:09 (ten years ago) link

you can't get the ravens these days!

... (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:09 (ten years ago) link

a few months ago on reddit there was some "i am a historian, ask me anything!" thread and loads of people were like "how did they get ravens to carry messages in the middle ages???" because apparently GoT is a documentary

✌_✌ (c sharp major), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:16 (ten years ago) link

A modern communications strategy is useless without both ravens *and* a network of brothels.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:17 (ten years ago) link

pigeon messengers go back to the middle ages in this realm but ravens are just classier eh

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 4 June 2013 11:29 (ten years ago) link

anyway, yes, i can imagine it wasn't entirely clear but everyone involved in the jamie/briene stuff were roose's men and they were apart from the rest of the northern folks. i think you were supposed to infer that this was going on without robb or anyone else's knowledge from the lack of conversation/shitstorm about it. and as for robb and crew finding out about sansa's wedding, i imagine there is no one left in the capital with sufficient sympathy and resources to get a message to them in the required time.
