I think all of us who don't play FPS games should start a Battlefield clan or whatever they call it.

we can use it for chats

El tres de 乒乓 de 1808 (silby), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 03:46 (ten years ago) link

been turning around my opinion wrt infamous 2 - now that i have the groove down srt controls, it seems pretty fun! its def a low rent arkham city in a lot of ways, but there seems to be lots of shit to do and its only sometimes a bit samey, less so than prototype for sure. some uh questionable characters going on (the voodoo priestess lady is really really overdone and maybe kinda sorta racisty).

Magna Sharta (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 19:01 (ten years ago) link

i am totally down with doing a battlefield 3 clan thing. i am not absolutely terrible at FPS, but I am def not gonna be a high level competitor.

Magna Sharta (jjjusten), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 19:02 (ten years ago) link

I would do this so you all could laugh at how terribad I am

big black nemesis, Puya chilensis (DJP), Wednesday, 3 July 2013 19:35 (ten years ago) link

Is there friendly fire in Battlefield? Because I probably shouldn't be behind anyone if that's the case.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 3 July 2013 19:40 (ten years ago) link

I'll also happily join in at shit battlefield. Only ever played 1943 and was awful at it.

JimD, Wednesday, 3 July 2013 22:53 (ten years ago) link

should i care about BF3 at all?

It's a very well-made game, but a bit vanilla in terms of how warfare is presented. More of a sim than arcade compared to some other games.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 3 July 2013 23:15 (ten years ago) link

Just went hog wild on this summer sale thing - Scott pilgrim, mortal kombat, ratchet and clank collection, and shadow of the colossus, all for under $20

Magna Sharta (jjjusten), Thursday, 4 July 2013 05:04 (ten years ago) link

Of those I have only ever played mortal kombat, looking forward to playing it on a new and responsive controller instead of my diseased 360 controller.

Magna Sharta (jjjusten), Thursday, 4 July 2013 05:06 (ten years ago) link

Shadow of the Colosus?! I was looking for that a while ago - but I was told used copies are had to come by!

Still pretty easy to find the HD remaster w/Ico for PS3

Nhex, Friday, 5 July 2013 22:17 (ten years ago) link

Ya - this was a while ago. Didn't even know about a remaster!

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 5 July 2013 22:18 (ten years ago) link

Ps+ for shadow of the colossus is $5 ATM. On the down side so far I kind of hate it.

Magna Sharta (jjjusten), Saturday, 6 July 2013 04:59 (ten years ago) link

I bought that HD disc and sold it after a weekend. Both games looked neat and were interesting concepts with some of the shittiest controls ever devised.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 6 July 2013 05:02 (ten years ago) link

So
Fucking
Otm

Magna Sharta (jjjusten), Saturday, 6 July 2013 05:05 (ten years ago) link

Shadow of the Colossus is basically pomo Ocarina of Time

EU PS+ games for August
Need For Speed: Most Wanted (PS3)

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 11:04 (ten years ago) link

I suck so bad at Battlefield. So bad.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 11:37 (ten years ago) link

Spec Ops is great!

bizarro gazzara, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 11:47 (ten years ago) link

So is NFS:mw

adam, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 11:55 (ten years ago) link

Yeah NFSMW is a really fun time.

JimD, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 12:39 (ten years ago) link

replayed battlefield recently
boy it sucks

how bad could it be to be stuck to the couch, forever... (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 19:02 (ten years ago) link

pretty new to ps3 stuff, how long can i expect to wait before the last of us goes down to ~£15 on amazon? it's still at £35 5 weeks after release, is this normal? also is there anywhere else that sells it cheaper or is amazon the best place?

NI, Monday, 22 July 2013 16:43 (ten years ago) link

You've picked a bad example really, sub-£20 used prices usually take I guess 6 to 8 weeks these days, for the majority of mid tier titles. But TLOU is one of those big system-seller titles that could end up holding its value for 6-8 months. See also GTA games, anything first party nintendo, each CoD right up until the next year's CoD comes out, etc etc.

JimD, Monday, 22 July 2013 16:46 (ten years ago) link

Jim's right in this case.. probably have to wait until Black Friday for a good deal

Nhex, Monday, 22 July 2013 16:48 (ten years ago) link

ah thanks guys. i thought TLOU might be different as it doesn't seem to have much replay value (tried to avoid reading too much about it but it seems to veer more towards heavy rain style story-telling than GTA4?). what's black friday? was wondering about little game trading shops but i can't imagine them being any better than amazon/ebay

NI, Monday, 22 July 2013 16:55 (ten years ago) link

day/weekend after Thanksgiving there's a lot of deals to be had. you never know though, there might be a sale in the meantime

Nhex, Monday, 22 July 2013 17:49 (ten years ago) link

There are plenty of quick-time moments like heavy rain, but there is also plenty of combat, and if you bump up to a harder difficulty where resource management is more important, a second playthrough will be very enjoyable imo

two weeks pass...

this month ps+ is lame as fuck

sassy, fun, and RELATABLE (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 6 August 2013 14:33 (ten years ago) link

and other internet troll comments
but seriously: laaaaaaaaaame

sassy, fun, and RELATABLE (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 6 August 2013 14:34 (ten years ago) link

I thought it was OK. I wanted to play Bit Trip Runner 2 and Hitman Absolution isn't that old. Star Wars Pinball should be fine for anyone who's not already on the Pinball FX/Zen Pinball 2 train.

Nhex, Tuesday, 6 August 2013 14:37 (ten years ago) link

How soon does count and plick start so I can start writing my most hated hitman absolution rant?

O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 04:36 (ten years ago) link

why wait?

sassy, fun, and RELATABLE (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 7 August 2013 04:39 (ten years ago) link

Yeah rant away.

jjjusten if you wait your newborn child will just drain all the bile from you with its goony little infant face

Guess I'll finally get around to Tokyo Jungle, mostly I wanted Sound Shapes and Fat Princess

Nhex, Saturday, 10 August 2013 05:33 (ten years ago) link

Ah I am glad that bit trip runner is free so I don't have to pay money to find out how much I hate this stupid game.

waterface down (jjjusten), Monday, 19 August 2013 00:38 (ten years ago) link

i liked the original. it's a very simple game though

i think i got to the part where you get put in charge of saving some girl and promptly put it in my trade-in pile. also got tired of looking at the damn bandage on the back of baldyfucks head

EU PS+ games for September

Assassin’s Creed 3 (PS3)
Jak and Daxter Trilogy (PS3)
Stealth Inc: A Clone In The Dark (PS3)
Urban Trial Freestyle (Vita)
New Little King’s Story (Vita)

interested to see how the changes to LKS worked out, really enjoyed the Wii version

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 22 August 2013 12:35 (ten years ago) link

Stealth Inc already? Damn, EU Plus.

Nhex, Thursday, 22 August 2013 13:13 (ten years ago) link

I played Divekick tonight at a local meetup - man, it's ridiculous that made it to a full-fledged game! Amazingly stupid, adult swim-style. Probably more fun with alcohol and more friends and strangers, I gather

Nhex, Saturday, 24 August 2013 05:18 (ten years ago) link

Nice sale tomorrow. Plus prices are great
