^^^could have been done in one episode really

don't have high hopes for the cylon schism. every demystifying cylon squabbling scene is another stake in this show's heart.

yeah, basically once it became clear that the Cylons DON'T actually have a plan some serious tension evaporated. I am not as down on this as s1ocki cuz I am interested in the "origins of humanity" angle and the Baltar lolz but I agree that I'm a little frustrated with the foot-dragging and goodbye scenes and general water-treading.

Can we basically assume that when they get to earth they're going to find either:
A) 21st Century us
B) 2001-stylee prehistoric cavemen
C) a planet of balthars
d) a planet of Malkovich's (honestly, this would redeem the last two seasons for me; he is the ONE)

baltar is lolz, sure, but the jesus angle is tired as hell. and hammy comedy is not must-watch tv for dudes like me.

s1ocki - can't believe you missed cabane à sucre on sunday! i was trying to get nico to communicate to you that we were MEETING AT MY HOUSE AND THEN STUFFING OURSELVES WITH MAPLE SYRUP but clearly you were too snoozy to realise the awesomeness of both these propositions. i enjoyed bookshp and want more chances to hang out. come to listening session on thursday!

sean gramophone, Monday, 14 April 2008 20:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Sean are you still up in Canada?

Mark Verheiden's comic work suggested to me that he was a bad writer; his BG work confirmed it.

lol emo cylon
wait i don't remember any swords

rrrobyn, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 14:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Again, I've heard how much better BSG is than other sci-fi series, with the real tension and urgency of war. But it still looks like a video game to me. Hardly Saving Private Ryan, is it? So far, so unmoved, then.

GUH...it's set in space you clown so of course it will look like a video game (and why is that a problem these days?)

blueski, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 12:12 (sixteen years ago) link

Wow, too many threads on the front page... time to bump another one!

Thumbs up for evil Cylon awakening! Who else felt like Cally really had it coming since the beginning?

Nhex, Saturday, 19 April 2008 03:21 (sixteen years ago) link

man tory was COLD

latebloomer, Saturday, 19 April 2008 03:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Plan, schman. is the Stockwell not right, resurrecting the D'anna line and her/their messianic obsessions would be re-opening a whole can of Wormz, and that unlobotomized Raiders will be "more than you bargained for"? (Not that the faction Six speaks for will get a chance to see for themselves, if Stockwell wipes them out and their resurrection ship too.) And does Cally's death at that moment not almost seem like a mercy killing--I mean, look at her! Are we not seeing, more and more, thourgh Cylon eyes? Who is the Admiral sitting with at the very end??

dow, Saturday, 19 April 2008 17:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, the airlock was pretty much Cally's only option, sadly.

Terrible Cold, Saturday, 19 April 2008 17:47 (sixteen years ago) link

shame cally had to die after only just getting her best ever hairdo

blueski, Sunday, 20 April 2008 22:10 (sixteen years ago) link

that's Orion in the screengrab right?

blueski, Sunday, 20 April 2008 22:10 (sixteen years ago) link

Exactly - Orion's belt being the three stars that Starbuck sees near Earth.

So the Cylons are nearer to Earth than the fleet, I guess.

James Mitchell, Sunday, 20 April 2008 22:14 (sixteen years ago) link

i was happy to see one of the nu-cylons actually doing something, it seems like all they've been up to is having stressed-out meetings

s1ocki, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 04:58 (sixteen years ago) link

i like that now they're becoming more human. they've bitten the fruit from the tree.

latebloomer, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 06:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I thought the episode was great. A fair bit happened at least. there will be hell of more stressed-out nu-clyon meetings in the next ep.

wilter, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 06:21 (sixteen years ago) link

best episode of the season so far. which is surprising considering there was no Baltar.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 15:28 (sixteen years ago) link

what a great plan these cylons clearly do have

blueski, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 15:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Baltar just weighs down episodes that aren't about him half the time.

mh, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 15:32 (sixteen years ago) link

i don't get why Helo and Gaeta are off on Starbuck's mission - thought they were key personnel. it's as if the writers have got nothing for them to do for a while.

blueski, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 15:40 (sixteen years ago) link

i don't get why they're jumping around in that ship so often if jumping around is exactly what starbuck doesn't want to do. and i don't get why the temporary appropriation of a garbage scow is a hot-button political issue.

s1ocki, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 15:45 (sixteen years ago) link

39,000 people left - how come still so many reporters?

blueski, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 15:48 (sixteen years ago) link

i know, i was just thinking about that!

s1ocki, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 15:49 (sixteen years ago) link
