Do they need the money? The Islams?

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 10:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Peaches Does Dubai

Noodle Vague, Friday, 30 March 2007 10:46 (seventeen years ago) link

The obvious thing is to do a sort of "In the Footsteps of Daddy, Yah?" trip to Ethiopia

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 10:48 (seventeen years ago) link

It could be called 'In The Footsteps of Daddy, Jah'

Matt DC, Friday, 30 March 2007 10:50 (seventeen years ago) link

What's the other one up to? Fifi Trixibelle?

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 10:51 (seventeen years ago) link

It appears I was very wrong. Good.

kv_nol, Friday, 30 March 2007 10:54 (seventeen years ago) link

She's probably no different from any other self-obsessed 18 yr old, except she gets to make tv programmes and write for the Grauniad because she's Bob's daughter. Well, it's not her fault she's Bob's daughter. How many people here would turn down the opportunity of a media career just because their Dad's famous? I mean, Christ, when was having a London media career ever anything to do with merit and talent? (/devil's advocate)

Wot, it couldn't be worse than the Thatcher one from Yesterday!

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:00 (seventeen years ago) link

It could be the start of a new series!

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 11:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Such a shame 'Peaches and Uday in Kurdistan' will never see the light of day.

Matt DC, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:03 (seventeen years ago) link

certain parts of her anatomy are pretty classic.

StanM, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:05 (seventeen years ago) link

It would be great if they could find some cute Islamic boy for her to do a series with - they could call it "Peaches and Karim"

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 11:06 (seventeen years ago) link

wonder who ghosted peaches anyway.

I once interviewed for a job that would have meant being her editor and - I heard- she does write it all herself, or she did for that magazine at any rate.

I quite like her. (And she's still going out with Fred from Les Incompetents, it's the band that split up.)

Anna, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:13 (seventeen years ago) link

i'm not sure if that makes her better or worse.

That one guy that quit, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:16 (seventeen years ago) link

i have no doubt that she writes it all herself, after trying to read that column!

the worst thing about her is her dreadful fashion sense, actually.

lex pretend, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:18 (seventeen years ago) link

so dud it hurts. next.

No! I'd probably be wearing that if I were ten years younger.

Anna, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Dearest British press,

Please publish Peaches threesome story asap so we can make the 'she has to share a boyfriend? Bob is such a tightwad' joke.

Thanks,

Matt DC, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Why do you guys really dump on her? I think she's rather cute and not too bad looking and has great fashion sense. She's making good use of her "name" and has a feud with Lily Allen. So I'd say classique. She has the *best* name from the lot. I mean, FIFI and PIXIE? Sheesh, why do people pick these sort of names?

nathalie, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:48 (seventeen years ago) link

Pixie is a better name than Peaches.

Matt DC, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:53 (seventeen years ago) link

It's not so much picking on her really though is it, it's the mentality that has a supposed serious paper like the guardian publish this article, which is trivial, dated, has been done to death anyway, and which is written in a banal style. The article only gets published because the author is a young "celebrity", the author's "celebrity" is based on nothing other than the fact that she is the offspring of a famous musican/activist. It's all just really pathetic, it gets me down.

Pashmina, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, pick someone from the street then. ;-) You're righth though, I can understand. But I wouldn't hate on her because of that. She'd be daft not to grab the chance to write.

nathalie, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:55 (seventeen years ago) link

We're not hating on her, we're hating on the Guardian (again!) and this fucking stupid fucking infantile culture we live in!

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 11:57 (seventeen years ago) link

On the basis of this thread it seems women like Peaches, men do not. Then again, lovely as we are, I odn't think Nath and myslef constitute a representative sample of all womankind.

Anna, Friday, 30 March 2007 11:59 (seventeen years ago) link

It would be great if they could find some cute Islamic boy for her to do a series with - they could call it "Peaches and Karim"

bravo!

she seems pretty harmless in a "jonathan aitken's daughter" over-privileged and unnecessarily over-exposed kind of way.

CharlieNo4, Friday, 30 March 2007 12:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't anything about Victoria Coren

You never her.

braveclub, Friday, 30 March 2007 12:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Anyway Peaches Geldof is basically a crap version of LiLo.

braveclub, Friday, 30 March 2007 12:10 (seventeen years ago) link

No, I haven't her

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 12:10 (seventeen years ago) link

Anyway Peaches Geldof is basically a crap version of LiLo.

you mean that crazed Irish harridan in populr 80s sitcom Bread?

blueski, Friday, 30 March 2007 12:12 (seventeen years ago) link

My wife doesn't like her, so that throws out your sample from 100% women like her to only 66% :)

Colonel Poo, Friday, 30 March 2007 12:13 (seventeen years ago) link

anna-marie's response to the article was "OMG SACK THE EDITOR" so that takes it to 50%.

(i heart lilo!)

lex pretend, Friday, 30 March 2007 12:16 (seventeen years ago) link

Sorry, I can't get above a "meh" for Peaches.

I don't want to smash her like a cockroach (though I never want to see another picture of her wearing pantyhose and a t-shirt out of the house) nor do I particularly like her. She's just kind of a non-entity.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 30 March 2007 12:20 (seventeen years ago) link

what, he's become teh jewish grandmother stereotype?

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 13:46 (seventeen years ago) link

I can hear him saying it!

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 13:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Ha! For the first three sentences I thought Anne-Marie P had written this.

I dislike Peaches too, I'm afraid. But mostly because the bottom half of her face is all wrong.

marianna lcl, Friday, 30 March 2007 13:54 (seventeen years ago) link

It would probably be more infuriating for Peaches and easier for us if everyone decided they preferred Pixie, who is waaaay cuter.

suzy, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I am going to call all of them Funty from now on. Funty Geldof.

blueski, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Pixie is the one with Hutchence genes rather than Geldof genes right? Hardly surprising then.

Matt DC, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:04 (seventeen years ago) link

That reminds me of an old Glasgow phrase for a crappy broken down thing: a Faunty, i.e.,something that's "fa'in' tae bits"

Tom D., Friday, 30 March 2007 14:07 (seventeen years ago) link

No, the Hutchence baby is Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily

marianna lcl, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:07 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't like her much, but only because I think she is a young "cool indie".

This is a joke, right?

Matt DC, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:13 (seventeen years ago) link

the hutchence relatives in australia are a horrorshow, tiger lily is very lucky that stingy old bob took her in.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Actually I just remembered how much I hate her Dad and his wanker generation of right on Irish artists.

Ronan, Friday, 30 March 2007 14:16 (seventeen years ago) link

the hutchence relatives are worse though, now they are disowning each other for selling michael souvenirs on ebay.
