chuck's old "you can't win shooting jumpers" doesn't seem to apply so much to today's league, maybe

"The warriors offense gets crazy iso heavy when steph isn't in"

They love going to Barnes in the post and if either j oneal or speights are in then ball stops with them.

well the idea that you need postup play from a bigman stopped applying 20 years ago.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 15 November 2013 05:45 (ten years ago) link

Thunder just don't have enough players

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 15 November 2013 05:45 (ten years ago) link

of course it's great to hear Barkley lecture against jumpers when his 3pointer habit made him about 10% worse as a player.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 15 November 2013 05:46 (ten years ago) link

i think ultra polyvalent wings are worth more than post scorers these days

ever heard of corey bewer?

moullet, Friday, 15 November 2013 05:56 (ten years ago) link

moullet, Friday, 15 November 2013 05:57 (ten years ago) link

He says he's legitimately "honored" anytime he sees someone bust out the Testicle Dance.
"When I saw Kobe [Bryant] do it [in the 2009 playoffs], I knew it was big-time," Cassell said.

Chucks insistence that you can't win with shooters is so weird.

Spottie, Friday, 15 November 2013 06:36 (ten years ago) link

hopefully that video gets posted because I forgot that he was gonna do that "lesson" after the game

Haralabos Voulgaris ‏@haralabob 56m
Help Defense when you are a big is so overrated, Roy Hibbert would have never gone over to help there like Bogut did.

idk it depends on the scheme

If Roy Hibbert doesn't do it, how can it be good? [buys bitcoins]

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 15 November 2013 07:10 (ten years ago) link

Sweet game. Dubs folded at the end against Thunder on a back to back but Iggy bailed them out

polyphonic, Friday, 15 November 2013 07:35 (ten years ago) link

yeah the offense got gross

Omer Asik had the NBA's longest active streak with 239 straight regular-season games played. That ended tonight on a "DNP - CD".

so nice to have kevin harlan calling that game last night

lmao

lag∞n, Friday, 15 November 2013 14:35 (ten years ago) link

feel like there's gotta be something going on with asik beyond match ups. mchale playing a frontline of francisco garcia, omar casspi and terrence jones seems insane

this was way upthread but i dont think it was addressed. apparently Asik asked for a trade again. think mchale is a little upset at his effort coming off bench.

funny thing is rockets are a terrific small ball team (as they were last year). dwight has been ok defensively but a non-factor on offense. he hasnt really delivered on being any kind of low-post offensive threat but he does seem to draw double teams still and passes out of it well--but the team is shooting 3s at an awful rate and id wager that, even more than the defense (it was this bad last year), is the big problem right now.

ryan, Friday, 15 November 2013 15:55 (ten years ago) link

Lin is the literally the only one of the team hitting 3s

ryan, Friday, 15 November 2013 15:56 (ten years ago) link

huh didn't hear about the trade request

twist boat veterans for stability (k3vin k.), Friday, 15 November 2013 15:58 (ten years ago) link

yeah dwight was a nightmare on offense last night but i thought he had a really good run at the end of the game on D

le goon (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:03 (ten years ago) link

but i mean it did work against the knicks because they have no low post scorer... melo was getting to the hoop but houston had decent success bringing help and forcing him to throw some wacky shot off the rim

so maybe it was a match ups thing

le goon (J0rdan S.), Friday, 15 November 2013 16:04 (ten years ago) link

this windhorst story seems pertinent
