I think trading Asik for a nice pick is fine

asik is twice the player shump is, and the knicks iirc don't have any other players or picks to sweeten the deal. rockets need a 3 or a 4, not another small. asik doesn't work on the knicks for the same spacing reasons he hasn't worked on the rockets. i'm sure they'd love to stagger his and chandler's minutes to protect melo/bargs on D but asik is too good a player to be getting less than 30 mins a night

asik doesn't *really* make sense for the knicks but i mean beggars can't be choosers!

houston could use another 4 but they seem content to play small and considering how consistently horrifying their perimeter defense is, i feel like they could use shumpert

but the salaries don't match up anyhow. i don't see how the knicks are gonna be able to make any trade whatsoever.

shump could take some of patrick beverley's minutes and it would be a slight upgrade but asik is worth more than that. i agree they shld just get a pick for asik.

i dunno i feel like they have room for a real good player if they could find a match. they're still giving major minutes to francisco garcia and omri casspi. (and terrence jones)

true, i think i'm struggling to find a team that can use asik and give up a rotation player in return (have not looked that hard tbh).

i also think it would make sense if they kept him, but if so they should prob not have him just rot on the bench

i mean, if the celtics want to go into super tankmode (like, be the worst team in the nba which essentially guarantees you a top 3 pick and a superstar in this year's draft) they could do worse than just selling rondo off to the knicks. but obviously they're not taking amare back, that's insane.

the underplayed part of that deal imo is how worthless it would be for the knicks unless they totally remade their offense

The Drexler-Porter-Kersey-Duckworth-era Blazers had a wicked fast break, but nothing will ever top the Blazers championship team and the run they had through the playoffs. This year's team does have a lot to like, though. We'll have to see how they look in April before I truly commit in my heart.

they're fun, well-coached, have a totally wild offensive system that seems to be working, the guys who need to play play d hard do it and the rest of the guys at least look like they're committed to not getting burnt, aldridge does his thing better than he ever has, lillard is a firecracker you have to root for, batum does everything, matthews and mo williams are hitting their shots, and they can play with a lead which the mcmillan teams couldn't ever quite crack. i just have a lot of fun watching these guys, which is a lot more than I can say for the turn-off that was the jail blazers era and the dull as paint dumb basketball of the mcmillan years.

but i mean, you're right, it's the middle of November. I'm optimistic, though!

portland looks cool, i hope they can keep it up and make the playoffs against someone besides the spurs

IMO that Kevin Ware leg injury was like 1/100 as bad as Livingstons, altho just as gross looking. A clean break of a bone vs every ligament in a knee torn and his patella and tibia dislocated.

the nets shot 37% tonight and just looked like garbage whenever livingston wasn't on the floor which is a problem

guess they're just this year's lakers, pretty shocking

nuggets are 19/33 from the line, this is really getting old
