i think it's too early to compare rose to any of those guys just yet. roy and oden both had, like, pre-existing degenerative conditions.

grant hill might not be a terrible comparison actually. but we'll have to see what happens. two ACL tears isn't a death knell tho he almost certainly wouldn't be the same player.

i haven't seen enough of brooklyn to say whether the coach is a big part of the problem (though logically that makes sense) but i do wonder to what extent pierce and kg are feeling unmoored and mentally fucked up--two guys who had thrived on stability coming into a very weird situation, and no player from the likes of williams, johnson, lopez wld seem to have the capability to rally them.

and then they look at their coach and say something to the effect of last time we saw you, you were shooting .176 against us in the playoffs.

yeah it seems like a pretty toxic situation. the idea of KG & PP not being invested seems possible if not likely... brook/joe johnson/d will is not exactly the most inspiring trio

KG and PP both seem like the kind of veterans who could emotionally detach themselves from a situation like the Nets. They won't dog it, but they won't fully commit either.

yeah but they're pretty deep. a team with joe johnson, KG, PP etc shouldn't be playing like this UNLESS the latter two are totally cooked in which case the problems run much deeper

i could def see this team still clicking but their ceiling in my eyes has for sure been lowered bigtim

also coaching seems like itd be pretty key as far as figuring out how to use guys on their last legs picking their spots etc

its seeems like if deron and brook were clicking you could use pierce/johnson/garnett as shooters and they shld be able to do that but idk

rather than floor spacing they seem to be spending a lot of time taking turns posting up which is just nagl

anyway they shd get karl and everyone can have fun and they can lose in the 2nd round to miami in 5 with four of the games toss ups going into the last 5 mins

Was just thinking how I was sad AK opted out of his TWolves deal but it was probably the best thing that happened to us, wouldn't have been able to sign Brewer or KMart otherwise

yeah there are def teams with de facto offensive or defensive coordinators but that's bcuz the head coach is particularly strong in one of those areas

with Kidd tho I doubt there was an expectation that he would be diagramming plays and stuff. but what you definitely need is a philosophy on both sides that shapes your identity as a team.

all the good teams have this. everything funnels down from that on both sides. the nets are just totally disorganized on both sides. it's beyond simply the plays.

forgive me if this is a stupid question: right now toronto (0.462) are above chicago (0.545) in the standings. why is this? is there something else used to rank teams other than pct? this is something i've noticed a few times in the past.

Meniscus ain't a death sentence. Depends on the severity I guess tho

I've done it (partial tear), kinda weird feeling. Kept playing after and played on it for another 6 months before surgery. Would get random shots of pain just sitting at my desk and shifting positions.

from what i hear rose tore the medial meniscus, which from what i understand is a less severe injury than if he'd torn the lateral meniscus. not sure how long it would take him to recover, they'd probably treat him with kid gloves once again. was this the same injury as westbrook?
