乒乓, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:28 (ten years ago) link

Lol SI cover

offs with your nanigans (Spottie), Monday, 25 November 2013 16:29 (ten years ago) link

remember that thing about the lakers having no money on their books after 2014 except nash or whatever

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 16:30 (ten years ago) link

anyone seen a number yet?

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 16:41 (ten years ago) link

Ramona Shelburne ‏@ramonashelburne 1m

Kobe Bryants contract will make him the highest paid player in the league the next two seasons

THE LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 16:43 (ten years ago) link

you are beautiful just the way you are lakers

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:45 (ten years ago) link

gary washburn ‏@GwashNBAGlobe 6m
Brad Stevens said he's been mixing in Rajon Rondo into 5-on-0 drills during practice. "So he's ready when the time comes."

http://espn.go.com/nba/salaries

Lololololol I didn't realize Amar'e was the third highest paid player in the league

乒乓, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:47 (ten years ago) link

hopefully the knicks can acquire kobe

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:49 (ten years ago) link

this seems off

14 Rudy Gay, SF Toronto Raptors $17,888,932
15 Kevin Durant, SF Oklahoma City Thunder $17,832,627

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 16:49 (ten years ago) link

joe johnson is making 24.87 million in 2015, so it has to be above that

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 16:51 (ten years ago) link

I really want to know if he's still staying above 30 mil

乒乓, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:52 (ten years ago) link

its just the standard escalation of kobes max contract right, isnt that how extensions work

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:53 (ten years ago) link

well kobe's making $30m this year, it's def coming down from that

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 16:53 (ten years ago) link

is it def

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:54 (ten years ago) link

Steve McPherson ‏@steventurous 1m
The YOLOs Angeles Lakers.

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 16:55 (ten years ago) link

Ramona Shelburne ‏@ramonashelburne 3m
Kobe's contract will be $23.5 million and $25 million, source tells ESPNLA.

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 16:55 (ten years ago) link

oh ok well thats reasonable

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:56 (ten years ago) link

lmao, *just* above joe johnson's salaries both years, what a petty SOB

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 16:56 (ten years ago) link

lol

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 16:56 (ten years ago) link

those salaries PROBABLY won't be terrible but the lakers really need to move on from the kobe era

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 16:59 (ten years ago) link

which isn't to say that they should get rid of kobe but making him the highest paid player in the NBA tells any other important potential FA (love etc) that you're still gonna be only the second most important person on the team

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 17:00 (ten years ago) link

what those salaries will def be terrible

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 17:00 (ten years ago) link

Tim Reynolds ‏@ByTimReynolds 1m

Put another way on Rose: From Feb. 9, 2012 through start of next year, the Bulls will have paid him roughly $37 million to play 27 games.

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 17:02 (ten years ago) link

melo's option is 25.3M next year so maybe he won't be the highest paid

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 17:02 (ten years ago) link

melo already said he's opting out tho

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 17:03 (ten years ago) link

yeah those salaries are v terrible

the lakers will continue to be bad but will also continue to make money, the owners know you can't just lowball kobe, their entire fanbase loves him there would be a revolt

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 17:03 (ten years ago) link

haha ok so kobe's salary is actually even closer to amare's next year -- 89k above amare in 2015 and 105k above joe johnson's in 2016

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 17:05 (ten years ago) link

the fact that joe johnson will be making 25 million in 2016 is so mind-blowing. what an incredible contract

k3vin k., Monday, 25 November 2013 17:05 (ten years ago) link

Lakers own one of the two largest TV markets in the country. They'll be fine

乒乓, Monday, 25 November 2013 17:06 (ten years ago) link

atlanta should build a statue of danny ferry for moving that contract

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 17:09 (ten years ago) link

guys, joe johnson's current contract is less impressive than his career earnings. im p sure he is going down as one of he best paid ballers of all time between the two long term deals hes netted. who is his agent and what brand of goat's blood does he drink?

to BRR! is humane (m bison), Monday, 25 November 2013 17:29 (ten years ago) link

He signed his contract back when all the powerful 2's like T-mac, d-wade, and kobe were all getting signed to megadeals right?

乒乓, Monday, 25 November 2013 17:32 (ten years ago) link

yeah he did a very good impression of a max contract guy while only being 75% as good

lag∞n, Monday, 25 November 2013 17:33 (ten years ago) link

why did the lakers feel the need to get this done now, that's my question

call all destroyer, Monday, 25 November 2013 17:47 (ten years ago) link

They liked what they saw in practice

乒乓, Monday, 25 November 2013 17:48 (ten years ago) link

they're a terribly run organization?

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 17:48 (ten years ago) link

Bill Simmons ‏@BillSimmons 1m

Stunned by Kobe's extension. Duncan + KG took less than 50% as much $ at same point in careers so their teams had more cap space to contend.

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 17:51 (ten years ago) link

stunned? really?

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 25 November 2013 17:51 (ten years ago) link

this is like the clippers signing chauncey billups to an almost max deal after he hurt his achilles a couple years ago
