he can run into a wall I'm fine with that

Clay, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:03 (ten years ago) link

read some thing abt ipads and the nfl apparently it's some league wide thing that they needed to agree on and theyll be using them next season, tons of teams use them during the week but arent allowed to during games wtf

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:03 (ten years ago) link

in a way gay is right, seeing that he went 6/19 is probably not gonna help anything. maybe team stats are good things for the coach to talk about when it comes to schemes

srs? its def super important to know how you did

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:04 (ten years ago) link

Stats in larger samples are important, but I don't think it's important to know how poorly you did in one game right after it's over.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:09 (ten years ago) link

naw u got to know preferably during the game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:10 (ten years ago) link

lol simmons trying to trade any halfway productive celtics vet on twitter

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:10 (ten years ago) link

like its not surprising rudy gay would be leading this revolt guy has been straight up in denial his entire career

― lag∞n, Tuesday, November 26, 2013 6:10 PM (28 seconds ago)

i mean i'm not sure what seeing your raw stats really does, rudy gay probably knows he misses a lot of shots, clearly it's not something he's able to fix on his own with a stat sheet

k3vin k., Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:12 (ten years ago) link

if the argument if for better stats then fine, like you took a bunch of shots early in the shot clock that are not the type of shots you make etc

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:12 (ten years ago) link

if your argument is Rudy gay obvs will not listen then that seems like more of an issue. with gay than with stats. maybe he hasnt been shown enough stats idk

lag∞n, Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:13 (ten years ago) link

well right i mean obv it can't just be fg% or something

k3vin k., Tuesday, 26 November 2013 23:15 (ten years ago) link

Imho fg% is better than nothing

mchale raises an interesting question that you guys can probably answer better than I can: who's the best player to also be a good/successful coach? (jury still out on mchale I guess--he probably has another year at best to produce major results)

I think his job is pretty safe right now in general

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 02:41 (ten years ago) link

Lenny Wilkens is probably the greatest player to become a great coach

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 02:43 (ten years ago) link

i second bird, he only coached for three years but he seemed very good at it, obvs a v good gm too, also i think he was a good player

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 02:45 (ten years ago) link

oh man sullinger is still so fat, i guess he had back surgery so he has an excuse but still v curious to see how good hell be if he ever gets in shape

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 02:47 (ten years ago) link

sullinger's interviews about his weight are pretty endearing, he's like "yeah I'm fat, I'm working on it." Says Kevin Love is his role model for losing weight.

Imagine what we'd think of him as a GM if Kahn had accepted the Jonny Flynn trade.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 02:50 (ten years ago) link

Bird probably the only guy to do the trifecta though.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 02:51 (ten years ago) link

altho nellie did draft Dirk!

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 02:51 (ten years ago) link

bill russell was pretty good at coaching and playing at the same time

Clay, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 03:01 (ten years ago) link

Jerry Sloan, two time all-star and four time all-defensive first teamer, probably my answer tho

Clay, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 03:02 (ten years ago) link

guess it depends on what yr standard for playing greatness is

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 03:04 (ten years ago) link

fair enough, I change my answer to scott skiles

Clay, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 03:05 (ten years ago) link

he had 30 assists in one game

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 03:07 (ten years ago) link

I like his name, scott skiles, it's kinda funny and makes me laugh

he was a good play but not on Wilkens' level. Can make the case that Nellie was better.

Kobe Bryant ‏@kobebryant 7m
The cap rules players have to be "selfless" on To "help" BILLIONAIRE owners R the same cap rules the owners LOCKED US out to put in #think

i hate kobles, but i support kobe getting that paper, fuck team, go for mines

to BRR! is humane (m bison), Wednesday, 27 November 2013 04:42 (ten years ago) link

Kobe's only half right. I'd be pretty surprised if anything in the CBA says that players "have to be selfless" when it comes to the salary cap. Pretty sure that part is optional.

Aimless, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 04:56 (ten years ago) link

ctc xp

Clay, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 04:58 (ten years ago) link

he's referring to the criticism he's gotten for the deal xp

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 November 2013 04:59 (ten years ago) link

kobels otm

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:01 (ten years ago) link

that criticism comes from fans and other outsiders. the correct kobe answer to that is, "See this money. It's my fuck you money. So, fuck you."

Aimless, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:04 (ten years ago) link

the rules on to for which we make do for why

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:06 (ten years ago) link

kobe knows selflessness is for clowns who don't have multiple rings and a lock on the hof

Aimless, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:06 (ten years ago) link

have no sympathy for kobe, the CBA wars aren't about superstars they're about journeymen who have short careers and end up hurt with no health benefits. kobe is rich for life regardless -- why does he need 25 million instead of like, 12? he's probably worth like 300. he's entitled to do whatever he wants, but i wish his fans would acknowledge that guys like lebron, KD, etc took less to help their teams while kobe's been all about him

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:07 (ten years ago) link

by KD i mean KG

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:07 (ten years ago) link

kobe is right in that the owners manipulated the situation and set up the dynamic in which he is either selfish or not

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:10 (ten years ago) link

the extension definitely adds some fun drama to his comeback, looking forward to it

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:11 (ten years ago) link

There was already a hard cap before the lockout.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:15 (ten years ago) link

And Garnett and Duncan were "selfless" before the lockout.

― lag∞n, Wednesday, November 27, 2013 12:10 AM (6 minutes ago)

in the sense that if there were no salary cap this would be a non-issue, but the "millionaires vs billionaires" debate etc is a separate thing from this

k3vin k., Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:18 (ten years ago) link

Like if you want to say fuck the owners that's cool but you actually are limiting their ability to field a competitive team.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:19 (ten years ago) link

owner agreed to the deal too

lag∞n, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:22 (ten years ago) link

It is amazing though that people are giving him shit when so many lesser players have received max money

polyphonic, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 05:23 (ten years ago) link

that kobe tweet is awesome i don't care if he's almost a billionaire anyway
