I mean hell they managed to beat the Suns who apparently are a playoff team, black is white, cats living with dogs etc.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:23 (ten years ago) link

I still think the Knicks have a much higher chance of missing the playoffs than the Nets, but Kidd's antics make me wonder

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:24 (ten years ago) link

yeah well the nets are at least missing their two best players

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:26 (ten years ago) link

i think both are still essentially locks to make the playoffs

i'm not sure there are 8 teams in the east that are even trying to make the playoffs

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:28 (ten years ago) link

let's break it down to an extent

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:32 (ten years ago) link

15 teams in the east

2 teams are 100% locks

miami heat
indiana pacers

1 team is a 98% lock

chicago bulls

3 teams have zero chance and/or are openly tanking

milwaukee bucks
boston celtics
philadelphia 76ers

2 teams are probably in that group but might actually be kinda good

orlando magic
charlotte bobcats

so we're left with 7 teams for 5 spots (assuming heat, pacers, bulls)

atlanta hawks
toronto raptors
washington wizards
cleveland cavaliers
new york knicks
brooklyn nets
detroit pistons

who ya got?

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:36 (ten years ago) link

out of that group i like

atl, wash, det, bk, nyk

i think the cavs are garbage and that masai will break apart the raptors

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:37 (ten years ago) link

in the tank: obviously doomed: Cleveland, Milwaukee
scrappy overachievers that can't possibly last: Boston, Philly, maybe Charlotte ('Cats definitely trying to make the playoffs though)
weird but talented teams that are trying to be good and might manage it: Pistons, Raptors, Orlando
teams coached by Thibodeau: the Bulls
realistic playoff teams: Indiana, Miami, Atlanta, Washington

I think it's possible that 7 of the teams from those last three groups make it.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:38 (ten years ago) link

now that Oladipo is going beast mode I really think the Magic are in the mix.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:40 (ten years ago) link

I'm sure that Masai is trying to get rid of Gay but that might make the playoffs more possible

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:42 (ten years ago) link

derozen has been killing it, I wouldn't totally sleep on the raps

Clay, Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:42 (ten years ago) link

the cavs seem desperate to shed waiters and get a SF, maybe masai can rope them into taking rudy

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:44 (ten years ago) link

Rudy is not what kyrie needs right now but Cleveland's management seems incompetent enough

Clay, Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:48 (ten years ago) link

apparently they are trying to do... this

The Cleveland Cavaliers are actively shopping second-year shooting guard Dion Waiters, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Three teams the Cavaliers are known to have spoken with are the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers, the sources said. The Cavs' targets are Iman Shumpert in New York, Evan Turner in Philadelphia and Luol Deng in Chicago, sources said.

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 28 November 2013 07:50 (ten years ago) link

Shumpert was borderline invisible out there tonight btw

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 28 November 2013 08:09 (ten years ago) link

GSW clearly got its hands on OKC's crunch-time playbook for tonight, which is just a one page stick figure sketch of Durant shooting.

lol melo blocked at the buzzer on a potential game-tyer

Clay, Saturday, 30 November 2013 04:40 (ten years ago) link

Just finished dubs/okc game. Wow that was insane at the end, everything about it, toe so close to the line. Shoulda put it away like 3 times. Revenge for the Iggy shot two weeks ago I guess. Curry working the glass all game so nice. Warriors playing really well overall just getting off nights from Klay and Lee is the difference, plus no Iggy.

46. BEETLEJUICE, "乒乓" (1988) (Spottie), Saturday, 30 November 2013 05:25 (ten years ago) link

Best thing about that melo getting blocked on game tying shot was that it was by... Randy Foye

Spottie, Saturday, 30 November 2013 05:45 (ten years ago) link

yeah I was thinking during that play "well the Knicks got melo isolated on randy foye, woodson not calling a timeout worked" and then.... that happened

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 30 November 2013 05:48 (ten years ago) link

I seem to remember Foye winning a game with the twolves in that manner too, during that 20 game stint where he was good.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 30 November 2013 05:49 (ten years ago) link

longest L streak of melo's career

Clay, Saturday, 30 November 2013 06:27 (ten years ago) link

the MSG aftershow was funny with the announcers constantly saying "... by RANDY FOYE(!?)" in clear disgust/disbelief

Nhex, Saturday, 30 November 2013 06:27 (ten years ago) link

j.r. has been unbelievably bad
