Just got around to watching the knicks fan video

Need to point out the sticker was still on his hat

乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 15:54 (ten years ago) link

SKIN INFLAMMATION sounds very onerous

Like what if it's that flesh eating bacteria that's just the normal bacteria on your skin that's morphed into the flesh eating kind

Remember some story about a woman whose body started attacking all her skin and her skin sloughed off and then her body made brand new skin but it was weird cause she was like 45 years old and had the skin of a newborn baby cause it was all new

乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 15:56 (ten years ago) link

livin the dream

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 December 2013 15:57 (ten years ago) link

Oh shit you know what it probably is

MRSA

乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 15:57 (ten years ago) link

The initial presentation of MRSA is small red bumps that resemble pimples, spider bites, or boils; they may be accompanied by fever and, occasionally, rashes. Within a few days, the bumps become larger and more painful; they eventually open into deep, pus-filled boils.[3] About 75 percent of community-associated (CA-) MRSA infections are localized to skin and soft tissue and usually can be treated effectively.[4]

Damn MCW

Pullin for you

乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 15:58 (ten years ago) link

its prob smallpox

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 December 2013 15:59 (ten years ago) link

Athletes[edit]
In the United States, there have been increasing numbers of reports of outbreaks of MRSA colonization and infection through skin contact in locker rooms and gyms, even among healthy populations.

乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 17:40 (ten years ago) link

i've been looking for more info on what exactly MCW has, just in a medically-interested way, but i can't find anything. it actually probably is MRSA, but that wouldn't be all that surprising -- we all have MRSA living on our skin and it's a pretty common cause of cellulitis, which is what it sounds like MCW has

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 December 2013 17:43 (ten years ago) link

doesnt it usually affect people whos immune systems are already compromised tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 12 December 2013 17:45 (ten years ago) link

cellulitis or MRSA? MRSA is just the bug that causes a variety of infections, MRSA being the one it sounds like MCW has

a poor immune system is generally a predisposing factor for any infection, but the first line of defense when we're talking about cellulitis (an infection of the skin) is the skin. athletes are known to be at somewhat higher risk because of all the trauma/cuts/etc their skin has to take. like i said, we all have staph aureus on our skin, some of which is MRSA, but the chances the infection is due ot MRSA are generally higher if you're in and out of the doctors office/hospital a lot, or if you have a lot of close contacts -- living in a dorm, sharing showers -- again athletes falling under this risk category

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 December 2013 17:54 (ten years ago) link

MRSA*cellulitis* being the one it sounds like MCW has

knicks looking to trade for kyle lowry, good idea, cool guy coming into great situation.

knicks reportedly looking to trade felton to the raptors for lowry. lets see what kind of magic masai can work

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 December 2013 18:54 (ten years ago) link

sorry on phone and it doesn't tell me about xposts

the earliest 1st rounder the knicks can even offer is 2018, and they don't even OWN a 2nd rounder till 2017, so this will be interesting

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 December 2013 18:56 (ten years ago) link

some tweet was saying they might have to include tim hardaway jr

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 December 2013 19:00 (ten years ago) link

chris smith, 2017 second rounder, 2018 first rounder

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 December 2013 19:10 (ten years ago) link

awesome

Right now I'm reading The Grapes of Wrath. I never realized "Ghost of Tom Joad" by Bruce Springsteen was based on the main character, so I was pretty excited when I got to Chapter 2 and discovered that.

fit and working again, Thursday, 12 December 2013 19:28 (ten years ago) link

we all have MRSA living on our skin

I might miss the rest of the season because I have to burn all my skin off, lemme know how it turns out

Clay, Thursday, 12 December 2013 19:38 (ten years ago) link

MRSA can be some serious shit. A friend of mine who wrestled in high school got an infection from a wrestling mat that spread to his lungs and ultimately killed him.

masai is probably stonewalling and the knicks are gonna end up throwing in a 2018 first rounder, what a world

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 December 2013 21:01 (ten years ago) link

the knicks are not really gonna trade their 2018 first round pick are they

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 12 December 2013 21:10 (ten years ago) link

are they

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 12 December 2013 21:10 (ten years ago) link

they're not going to, right?

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 12 December 2013 21:10 (ten years ago) link

alternate: how attractive is a 2018 pick to masai? masai is good obviously but how many GMs stay somewhere for five years?

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 12 December 2013 21:11 (ten years ago) link

yeah but he might be thinking about having that pick as an asset for a trade in 2 years or something. still if a team could provide a more immediate return i'd have to think that would be preferable to him.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 12 December 2013 21:14 (ten years ago) link

yeah that's the thing, he's probably working on the morey model

You would think Brett Brown and Sam Hinkie could find a better way to tank than purposely exposing their breakout rookie star to a potentially deadly disease

ftr i oversimplfied this a little, probably not EVERYONE has the resistant strains living on them (though i don't think we can say this for sure) but we do all have staph aureus on us and the percentage of people without regular healthcare contact (ie without risk factors) that are found to be colonized with MRSA is growing rapidly. but obv just having bacteria on your skin is no biggie usually, the body has 10x as many bacterial cells as human cells, it's game over already we lost, i for one welcome etc
