6. Lio - Sage comme une image (Longue version)

Belgian icon who worked with Telex, Sparks, etc. Signed to Ze for a bit. One of the great slinky European disco hits.

had totally forgotten about this incredibly beautiful track, thank you!!!

11. Battisti, Lucio - Ancora tu

Ridiculously beautiful Italian disco-inflected pop from perhaps the country’s greatest songwriter of the modern era.

Lio came really close to my ballot.

Alfre, Lord Woodard (Eric H.), Thursday, 19 December 2013 17:58 (ten years ago) link

17. Material - Bustin' Out

smh at this not placing.

Me too. Would have voted for this for sure, and highly.

Chaplin Band are awesome! I voted for Il Veliero, but really, all the three tracks by them in nom list are top-notch. Too band none of their stuff has ever been (AFAIK) reissued or released as a comp.

Also, Flopson gets high five from me for putting two Crown Heights Affair tracks in his ballot! Woo-hoo-hoo hoo-uh, woo-hoo-hoo hoo-ooh!

My ballot. Bold = didn't place. I deliberately excluded artists that have had their own ILM artist poll. There were a couple of things I voted for here that were also in my Motown singles poll ballot.

I remain as shocked that "Instant Replay" didn't make the 100 as I was that "Countdown/This Is It" wasn't nominated. Heigh ho.

Oh, and on Philly not getting enough love, I don't really think of most of this as disco. But there really needs to be a separate Philly Soul poll.
