Rudy Gay having one of those games that made a certain sportswriter write a very bad column

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 28 December 2013 05:31 (ten years ago) link

um so Curry had a triple double only two minutes into the 3rd quarter!

Spottie, Saturday, 28 December 2013 06:53 (ten years ago) link

Rudy Gay's been kinda nine since being traded huh? Got his fg% for the season above 40% now at least.

Spottie, Saturday, 28 December 2013 07:16 (ten years ago) link

kinda *nice

Spottie, Saturday, 28 December 2013 07:16 (ten years ago) link

I think it's just variance.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 28 December 2013 07:52 (ten years ago) link

@ESPNNBA: Cavs announce Andrew Bynum has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 16:06 (ten years ago) link

Ahahaha the east

Spottie, Saturday, 28 December 2013 16:20 (ten years ago) link

Cavs really salting the earth before inevitably cutting him before January 7th to save like $7m on Bynum's contract.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Saturday, 28 December 2013 16:21 (ten years ago) link

we will not rest until every player in the eastern conference is either injured declining or suspended

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 16:21 (ten years ago) link

are the pacers gonna win the title this year by default just cause theyre the last existent nba team

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 16:25 (ten years ago) link

Gonna be impossible for the Cavs to replace the 8/5 Bynum was sometimes giving them.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Saturday, 28 December 2013 16:31 (ten years ago) link

bynum apparently trying to leverage his way onto a good team, lol

call all destroyer, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:03 (ten years ago) link

maybe he just doesnt gaf tho

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:07 (ten years ago) link

that was my initial impression but simmons just tweeted a bunch of insidery-sounding stuff about him wanting to play for lac, miami, or maybe the celtics

call all destroyer, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:14 (ten years ago) link

idk why the celtics would be in there

call all destroyer, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:14 (ten years ago) link

lol bring it

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:14 (ten years ago) link

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:15 (ten years ago) link

if he would just stick to nba/espn gossip

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:17 (ten years ago) link

what was he talking about yesterday

call all destroyer, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:20 (ten years ago) link

ha i think it was the nicknaming that sent me over the edge

Bill Simmons ‏@BillSimmons 14h
I think I like Greek Freak more than anyone in the 2014 Draft. I'm not even kidding.

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:27 (ten years ago) link

that nickname too is kinda gross imho

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:29 (ten years ago) link

idk hes just so lame i hate him

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:29 (ten years ago) link

yeah that nickname doesn't really sit well the more i hear it

call all destroyer, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:51 (ten years ago) link

Yes, come to my side

乒乓, Saturday, 28 December 2013 17:59 (ten years ago) link

looooooooool if bynum ends up on the heat

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 28 December 2013 18:10 (ten years ago) link

the clippers could actually really use him

in theory at least. he's looked really bad this year. like probably worse than ryan hollins bad

le goon (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 28 December 2013 18:11 (ten years ago) link

wade out with a hamstring pull for the ecf vs indy, bynum and beas combined average 35-17-5 for the series, heat in five

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 18:19 (ten years ago) link

Struggling to wrap my head around all the possible outcomes to this. Only redeemable thing that could happen to the EC now is a Heat/Pacers ECF with Beas, Oden and Bynum as contributors, would be awesome to see.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:00 (ten years ago) link

if the heat win this year via guys picked off the scrap heap im gonna do a school shooting

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:03 (ten years ago) link

Shoot Riley instead; it gets you further.

Aimless, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:14 (ten years ago) link

From a Miami Herald story today:

LeBron James scored a game-high 33 points to go along with eight assists and eight boards. James, though, appeared to sustain a groin injury during the second quarter and will be evaluated before Saturday's tilt. He could sit this one out to rest and avoid further damage.

"Uh, it's not feeling too well right now," James said of the groin. "I don't know what happened in the first half. I played the whole second half and overtime, strained my groin, so I'll see how I feel on our trip to Portland tonight and tomorrow, but it ain't feeling too good right now."

Aimless, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:32 (ten years ago) link

no school shootings.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:32 (ten years ago) link

it is illegal. and very bad.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:33 (ten years ago) link

well thats why i want to

lag∞n, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:38 (ten years ago) link

no worries. the pacers have already won this year's title. the rest of the season is just a "bread-and-circus" exercise for fans.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:39 (ten years ago) link

The best case scenario for the Heat would be really cool to see played out. Locking up two dudes -- Oden and Bynum -- to basically chill for the whole season in order to use them against one specific team in the playoffs. Just dust them off in time to be prepped for ECF vs. Pacers, give them an extra few months of mending now. Tough to remember a precedent for that.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:49 (ten years ago) link

It would be hard to find two NBA markets smaller than Portland and Indianapolis. Therefore, we can be reasonably confident these two teams will not meet in the Finals.

Aimless, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:51 (ten years ago) link

why are people (here and elsewhere) associating the heat and bynum? i know the heat have a need for bigs, oden's return is no sure thing, etc. but i haven't seen any reports -- yet, at least -- suggesting the heat have actual interest in bynum.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:52 (ten years ago) link

wait, waht? (xp)

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:52 (ten years ago) link

if bron doesn't play against Portland to ugh I will be v disappointed.

also Bynum/Oden twin towers forever

Clay, Saturday, 28 December 2013 19:53 (ten years ago) link

wait, waht?

you've convinced me. that's why i'm expecting a lakers-knicks finals.

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 28 December 2013 20:00 (ten years ago) link

wait. waht.

I think just 100% speculation off of those brief Simmons tweets. Diction sounds less "I think that" and more "I heard that," fuck me for parsing tweet diction. FWIW he doesn't mention if Heat/Clips have an active interest in him, tho.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Saturday, 28 December 2013 20:04 (ten years ago) link

expecting a lakers-knicks finals

I think stern would def settle for miami v. l.a. clippers.

Aimless, Saturday, 28 December 2013 20:06 (ten years ago) link

can I get my tongue back out of my cheek now?

Aimless, Saturday, 28 December 2013 20:08 (ten years ago) link

what a strange strange season we have going on here

Spottie, Saturday, 28 December 2013 20:14 (ten years ago) link

During the lockout you would just blame the shortened season for injuries

Used to be a child could kick a ball in the street

乒乓, Saturday, 28 December 2013 20:29 (ten years ago) link

Is there any good writing or theorizing on why all the injuries? Is it just that medicine is getting so good and paranoid that now we detect that much more?
