Cool to see some Rubio thinkpieces start to trickle out, and happy that the Goldsberry piece hammers home the fact that Rubio's J is mediocre but not atrocious / real problem is around the rim. Reminds me of Rondo 3-4 years ago, when it seemed like the league all at once decided to start giving him +5 feet of space for any shots outside the lane. There was a month where it seemed like it was massively fucking with his head / would pass up the wide open shots and drive anyway (and finish because, unlike Rubio, Rondo is an A+ finisher). iirc Rondo started taking and making enough of those jumpers where defenders started playing him honestly again.

What sucks more is that finishing at the rim seems less ... practicable? The work involved with improving your jumpshot is basically the muscle memory of thousands and thousands of jump shots, tighting form, etc. Like maybe Rubio can bulk up a bit so he can use his body to clear out a bit of space for himself down there, or like I think Goldsberry mentioned develop a Jax teardrop from 4-8ft rather than bungling layups. idk just want lil Ricky to change face, have fun, enjoy.

This is really way up there among the worst no-calls I've ever seen. Just on the path of the ball you can make the call, but the ref is right there wtf.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 31 December 2013 23:30 (ten years ago) link

Marion's head maybe in the way of the line of sight for the ref closest to us but the line ref WTAF

Spottie, Tuesday, 31 December 2013 23:31 (ten years ago) link

I think the ref on cam is looking at Love's feet

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 31 December 2013 23:44 (ten years ago) link

this stuff isn't that complicated, if you're playing pick up ball and the ball goes straight up like that everyone knows it was all arm

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 31 December 2013 23:45 (ten years ago) link

rickys per is 14.98!

i think hes a great point guard. for sure top 15 on my book
