yeah! melo is actually playing pretty well and i sort of feel bad for him
that he gets as much of the blame as he does

and if i'm the clips i would seriously consider that trade, not sure how the money works out tho

his rebound rate is up moderately but he's getting more minutes than ever and the clips are playing faster this year is most of the reason

melo is not that good also he's opting out this year so you're trading for 70% of a season and the right to offer him $120 million or whatever

just in terms of personnel the clips get much better immediately after that trade

i doubt the clippers would even be better this year with the melo/chandler combo unless they also flipped deandre and totally flipped the team

and even at that chandler is such a high injury risk and if he gets hurt again then you've traded your no doubt franchise player for not even a full season of carmelo anthony and a great one-way player who can't even stay on the floor

you can't play chandler and deandre at the same time... that's basically the same player

they get much better this year but theyre getting two guys moderately on the wrong side of 30 classic trap

you cant play deadre and chandler together but chandler is much much better

and as little of a fan of deandre as i am i still wouldn't do deandre-blake for carmelo-chandler even if the world was guaranteed to end in august of 2014

it's definitely risky, but it also seems clear now that this clipper team is not getting to the finals

but they have young players who are still improving and they can continue to build their team, they do that trade and its win now or bust

jordan is right though that fit would become an issue, unless the clips play melo at the 4, his natural position and one he's thrived at next to chandler

a trade that makes much more sense to me is something like

clippers get

tyson chandler

knicks get

jamal crawford
deandre jordan

maybe the clippers have to throw in a pick or take on some salary there or something but i think this works better for both teams

the young for old is too intense in that trade imho

especially considering tysons injury history and jordans recent improvement

yeah i mean it's a risky trade for both sides but still defensible either way

also i remain skeptical that deandre is actually good

hes not that good but hes okay

he is leading the league in rebounding tho

this seems like a fantasy bball trade, inane for both teams

unless melo has told the knicks he's 100% leaving i guess

yeah i dont think the clips as constructed are legit contenders

they definitely need redick to come back but they also need frontcourt depth badly. they're going to have to trade crawford, who thankfully is playing very well. they should have done the same with mo williams 2 years ago

they'll have to stagger minutes a little more creatively but the ryan hollins experiment has got to end. they need a competent 3rd big

the clippers do rely heavily on crawford but i think in the playoffs they could get away with not having him if collison continues to play well
