Daniel, Esq 2, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 00:53 (ten years ago) link

hes so good

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 00:54 (ten years ago) link

oh!, lookit that. he's awesome.

Daniel, Esq 2, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 00:55 (ten years ago) link

man the pacers only played plumlee 55mins last year, they fucked that one up bad, traded a legit nba center for an aging back up pf and threw in a usefull super athletic wing for laffs

― lag∞n, Monday, January 6, 2014 11:03 PM (32 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

it was a weird situation because he was a really bold gamble as a first round pick and then they give up so soon. Gotta give a freak like that some time.

Scola might get them over the hump in a couple playoff games with some up and unders though, who knows.

FWIW Pacers were happy w/ Plumlee's DLeague development. If they'd been making a long-term move, no way they'd have let him leave, esp. since all they were really looking for were rebounds from him. It's just that they desperately needed a clockwork scorer off the bench and that's totally what they're getting. For short term vs long term, it was win/win. Gerald Green was complete trash last season and they really wanted to dump his contract, small as it is.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:01 (ten years ago) link

you can get a bench scorer for a lot less than the price of a young legit center

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:03 (ten years ago) link

AND a draft pick lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:04 (ten years ago) link

Nah, Scola fits the offensive sets really well and has been doing exactly what they're looking for. Bench was such an offensive nightmare last season that fixing it was top priority. That said, if the Pacers knew how much ballin Plumlee would be ready to do this year, they might reconsider. It's just that they're so desperate to beat the Heat right now, and they saw lack of dependable bench scoring as their big weak point.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:13 (ten years ago) link

scola may fit really well but that doesnt mean they didnt over pay for him, which they did

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:15 (ten years ago) link

also worth noting that the pacers are playing mahinmi ~15 mins a game and he is not very good

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:17 (ten years ago) link

i haven't watched much giannis because i've been avoiding the bucks, but people are really getting worked up over the 7-3-2 lines he's been putting up huh?

k3vin k., Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:20 (ten years ago) link

JR smith just tried to untie monroe's shoes, wtf dude

k3vin k., Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:21 (ten years ago) link

he has really big hands xp

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:21 (ten years ago) link

but seriously he is the youngest player in the nba and he had no high level basketball experience and he looks like a basketball machine and is playing well and seems smart so imho people are right to be amped on him

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:23 (ten years ago) link

he blocked aldridges turnaround

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:23 (ten years ago) link

Eh, when you consider that they were paying Gerald Green, a total shitshow last year, $3m/yr iirc, then Scola @ $4m/yr is a total bargain.

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:26 (ten years ago) link

scolas salary is reasonable, what they gave up in the trade for him was not

Ha I totally haven't watched him that critically since he really shouldn't even be playing real minutes right now but Bucks are just throwing him out there and he's not embarrassing himself / showing flashes each game.

i feel like indy's so far out in front of miami now that it will take a major development for the heat to win the east. pains me to say it, happy to be disabused of the notion, but there it is.

Daniel, Esq 2, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:32 (ten years ago) link

It's funny because the Pacers shipped him off for basically the same reason he's been so successful in Phoenix-- dude really just wants to launch threes. Happy that he found the right team for that + insane dunks.

They're only like a game or two out of top seed as it is; wouldn't be surprised if Heat got it after going for a 15 game win streak just for laffs.a

Call me Shitmael (CompuPost), Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:39 (ten years ago) link

heat are vulnerable tho fwiw when all 3 big three play theyve been nearly unbeatable indy is looking v good a lot can change before the playoffs my money is on okc

lag∞n, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:41 (ten years ago) link

okc looks tough. durant's playing out of his mind, and they always develop young players v well.

he's so diminished, already mentally halfway out-the-door to cleveland.

Daniel, Esq 2, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 01:46 (ten years ago) link

you do recall correctly, tho. at the moment, lebron raymone james is a heat.

Funny how everyone overlooks the spurs so consistently, even though they were about a minute away from taking game 6 and beating the Heat last June and now lead the very tough Western Conference for #1 seed.

Giannis just crossed up iggy and no-look dished it off for a layup. I like watching him.

I do remember have similar feels with Anthony Randolph tho :/

as a non-lifelong knicks fan, I get the feeling that John Lurie really captures what the essence of being a lifelong knicks fan

love that post by Giannis

I liked L.A. in general. It was a break from the heavy winter in Milwaukee. We stayed in a hotel on Marina Del Rey, outside L.A. I was constantly wearing a t-shirt and cruised around with a bike that I rented. Sanders was going to come with me as well but he was busy, after all, since his family was with him. I generally enjoy to go out in each city we visit, get out of the hotel and just walk around. With no particular destination in mind. I know that anytime I want I can call a cab to bring me back to the hotel. I like to wander around, because the day doesn't go by without it when we are on the road. After the morning practice, I have a whole day on my own. Some times Nate comes with me, the other rookie, with whom I spent a lot of time with. We also usually sit side by side on the plane, in the back seats.
