It's a kind of reverse-colonial legerdemain to post Bflecha here but there's no thread for Spanish hipster shit iirc and followers of LAHM will probably be into this album:

Posted this on another thread, but will try again here to see if anyone else has listened to the album:

And was listening to the new Jorge Drexler album this morning. Caetano Veloso and rapper Ana Tijoux guest on it. So far I like Drexler's pop-rock en espanol. Some nice vocal melodies

Alex Anwandter returns!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CLEcVaVbW4

Doesn't sound like a big departure from his previous house/disco sound ...but who could possible get tired of that? No word yet on whether Cristian Heyne is involved.

Full song. Exactly what you would expect from the clip.

That MULA jam is really really great...and after investigating in them a little more, most of their stuff is.

Do Femina from Argentina or Ile (sister from Calle 13) fit in this thread?

curmudgeon, Monday, 29 August 2016 17:50 (seven years ago) link

I don't really think iLe does aside from the final track from the album, which I just posted.

I don't know anything about this, but it seems like it goes here.

Bomba Estereo have been mentioned on the various yearly Afro-Latin threads.

curmudgeon, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 03:35 (seven years ago) link

La Lechera has talked them up a lot, maybe mostly not even on the Afro-Latin threads.

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 04:21 (seven years ago) link

(Not feeling well and don't have the mental focus for much of anything, which is why I'm joining you in these go nowhere comments.)

_Rudipherous_, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 04:24 (seven years ago) link

Yeah, I had a feeling I probably missed it somewhere. I don't think I've ever checked out those Afro-Latin threads before. Either way, it seems like it would fit in here.

Non-Stop Erotic Calculus (bmus), Wednesday, 31 August 2016 05:45 (seven years ago) link

I'm not crazy about Bomba Estereo vocals, but many of the rest of you seem to be fine with them

curmudgeon, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 15:58 (seven years ago) link

I'm not a fan of the band in general. I don't dislike them, but they never really made much of an impression on me.

TWELVE Michelob stars?!? (seandalai), Tuesday, 10 October 2023 21:44 (six months ago) link

Some latinamerican hipster shit I’ve been enjoying in the past couple years:

(Mexico) Tonga Conga - Mira Bien
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCal34JvxfE

(Colombia) Cero39 - Hipnotico
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBAzpGPcRGk

(Chile) Chicarica - la noche de ayer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe71GxCSmTE

(Chile) Playa Gótica - Fuego
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aC-AjwVetU

(Mexico) Clubz - nagano feat. ela minus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-uiiycDKaA

(Mexico) Disco Bahia - Necedad
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCIrRX70EVo

This one is from the 80’s but got revived earlier this year by hipsters. Lucia Mendez is a mexican celebrity mainly known as an actress for soap operas, and a popular ranchera and ballad singer… but she also made a post-punk song in 1983… years before several popular rock bands from Latin America were influenced by the genre which is a bit funny:

Lucia Mendez - Margarita
