he had no idea how to play basketball he was just out there jumping around, brook is a legit elite skilled nba player on both sides of the ball and like 1mx better than 2nd year oden was
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:51 (ten years ago) link
Glad this discussion is finally bringing people around to the value of Brook Lopez, stalwart of my fantasy team for 2+ years at least
― 龜, Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:52 (ten years ago) link
i mean you can understand why everyone was so amped on greg but he has zero idea of how to play basketball at that point
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:52 (ten years ago) link
his PER was 23!
i mean it was like a 15 game sample or whatever but i dunno we're in a ~thought experiment~ here
― le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:54 (ten years ago) link
lopez rated 2nd in the nba at opponent fg% at the rim just behind hibbert, he is really really good, only weakness is rebounding
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:55 (ten years ago) link
this argument is breaking down but I agree with

i know he was putting up ridic numbers, but he was also very bad, he was very very bad at D, hence all the fouling, lopez would foul him out in like 3mins, i watched some of those games and he was like a great dane puppy running around out there, he was doing on on pure athleticism and size and wouldve gotten eaten alive by a good team that had like ten mins to prepare for him
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:58 (ten years ago) link
know way to gauge how good oden could have been. just not enough to base anything on
― Spottie, Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:59 (ten years ago) link
idk i tihnk he wouldve been a l33t player eventually if he didnt get injured and put in the proper work and all but he was really really green then
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 January 2014 17:00 (ten years ago) link
obvs who knows if he had the work ethic and mind of a champion eye of the tiger and everything, he def had all the raw tools tho
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 January 2014 17:01 (ten years ago) link
agree but you know
― Spottie, Thursday, 9 January 2014 17:01 (ten years ago) link

rashard was prob not quite prime when he left
― lag∞n, Thursday, 9 January 2014 17:02 (ten years ago) link

― moullet, Thursday, 9 January 2014 17:16 (ten years ago) link
naw rashard was a great shooter and bad at everything else, green is all around mediocre at everything

xpost green is great at ... marketing?
― moullet, Thursday, 9 January 2014 17:30 (ten years ago) link
that question about players in their prime is actually pretty interesting
There's only one way to settle this: put them all together on the court and let them play each other. Yeah, that's the answer!

When Josh Smith is on the floor in the 4th quarter, the Pistons are outscored by 26.4 points per 100 possessions. I. Can't. Even.

― z-time champion (agent hibachi), Thursday, 9 January 2014 22:25 (ten years ago) link
btw this silly "everyone in their primes" game is fun but j0rdan u were way underrating prime kg
prime kg was basically the most destructive defensive force the modern nba has ever seen and oh he would just throw in a 20+ and 13 for kicks
dude dragged trent hassell and fred hoiberg to the west finals in a p competitive era
― z-time champion (agent hibachi), Thursday, 9 January 2014 22:27 (ten years ago) link
but i have a sneaky funny team to think about their primes ready
03-04 lakers
kobe shaq the glove and yr power forward rotation would be peak karl malone and his backup would be horace grant!
― z-time champion (agent hibachi), Thursday, 9 January 2014 22:29 (ten years ago) link
damn
