shakey otm re: cecily thickness

Yeah I think Cecily looks great lately. My sister-in-law swears she's pregnant.

otm, Cecily looks amazing. actually the entire female cast really attractive this year (and hella funny) - shame that the writing has been uneven at times, though Kate McKinnon can often make me laugh regardless.

also Colin Jost was so bad on Weekend Update this past week (like even moreso than usual) that he managed to kill the buzz for the entire sketch. I mean Stephen A Smith is a tired gag at this point but the audience wasn't even reacting cos Jost couldn't play off with him. Any good lines Cecily did had were dulled cuz they knew a Colin line was coming next.

I thought Jost was ok. And the SAS impression is hilarious, i cry laughing every time he does that. It's perfect.

Cecily Strong is hot, dont get me wrong. And the gal they brought on midway through this season is absolutely smoking.

I've only seen him on ESPN maybe 2 or 3 times ever and I still think the bit is hilarious. Pharoah kept mugging at Jost as if to say "Really, dude? I can't get anything out of you?"

I have absolutely no idea who Stephen A Smith actually is and the bit is still funny

Ive been unfortunate enough to see Smith a million times and i can tell you that this thing is dead on, and hilarious.

I wonder if the Lonely Island guys cringe when the current cast tries to do a Lonely Island song a'la the Dongs thing. The new cast even structure the songs similarly, use some of the same rap tropes (e.g. the list thing of "9pm - do a thing. 10pm - do another thing"), and deploy celeb guests from music and film - but they really don't have any of the unexpected twists or surreal touches.

Dongs was ok, I think the cast sold it well, but it was blatant Lonely Island...especially when they did the counting thing for sure.

Mooney's flirting video however, was A+++

That's two weeks in a row I've enjoyed a Kyle Mooney thing. I'm still reluctant to say I've turned the corner on him, but I feel okay walking back my contempt a few steps.

I thought the Brooks Whelan butter down the pants story was funny, but I have no idea what it was doing on Weekend Update. That guy's actually a strong comic by all accounts, but he's probably got no business being on SNL.

lol @ this week being Seth Rogan and Ed Sheeran. Was this episode booked four years ago?

Bailed after Update. Worst episode of the season so far, except for Strong freaking out in the dog food ad. Rogen's doing his lines like it's a table read.

At this point, I don't care if Nasim Pedrad stays or goes if all she's going to do is Shallon sketches. In fact, if that's all she's going to do, I'd prefer she leave.

Aside from the French guy and Deep House Dish, I love Kenan.

I'm really getting sick of Vanessa Bayer being in nearly every single sketch. Is she turning into Lorne's new favorite?

Keenan is great, and one of the only SNL cast members who makes laughing at his own absurdity pretty charming. Has he ever done Rick Ross and not cracked himself up?

I think Bayer's great in some roles -- loved Jacob tearing up about Jeter's retirement.

But when she's not the focus of the sketch, she doesn't add anything. Whereas McKinnon, say, completely killed in the Shallon sketch with one line ("I'm going to my car to call a man").

I think he's a quality veteran, but more along the lines of Kevin Nealon. Phil Hartman was, er, a genius

For a season finale episode, even with numerous cameos, that was pretty flat from beginning to end. It was a weak way for Nasim to go out too, playing Kim Kardashian for the thousandth time.

This was her last episode? That's a shame, and a waste. Kim bit was pat and obvious, and way beneath her abilities.

She's on Mulaney's Fox sitcom, so I imagine she's leaving SNL. Nothing "official" has been said, though.
