yeah dude has put a lot of work in on his accent, probably especially now that he's getting US film roles

anonanon, Wednesday, 9 April 2014 14:49 (ten years ago) link

Yeah Jaime def looks more gaunt and thin and weathered than before, by design I think

Feel like making Oberyn bi is a little bit too on the nose, was that hinted at too in the books?? NB I totally missed out on Renly in the books but it seems pretty obvious now after rereading the relevant passages

Haven't seen the new ep, haven't read the thread in a while, but I did see this:

i have no problem with making oberyn bi but it was definitely played like a "...did i SHOCK you" moment which is a bit lame in this day and age

socki (s1ocki), Wednesday, 9 April 2014 16:03 (ten years ago) link

Oberyn a bit less of a cunt in the books no?

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Wednesday, 9 April 2014 16:13 (ten years ago) link

Been a long time but I think he comes across as more cunning and sophisticated in the books

They're really trying to play up the "this guy ain't from around here and he's not gonna play by the rules of WESTEROS" or w/e (NB before some nerd points out that Dorne actually is in Westeros 1) you know what I mean 2) those maps in the paperbacks are shit)

Oberyn's sexuality isn't hinted at in the books -- it's fairly well spelled out (or at least with characters repeating rumors). I'm more miffed that he's more White Viper than Red Viper.

I'd like Benjen Stark to come back at some point. I can't tell if we're supposed to care about his whereabouts at all or not.

nashwan, Thursday, 10 April 2014 20:39 (ten years ago) link

well he hasn't been mentioned in like 26 episodes or so so he's probably not supposed to be at the forefront of your mind

Clay, Thursday, 10 April 2014 20:48 (ten years ago) link

if benjen ever reappears they'll probably give you a handy flashback to remind you of who he is like with ser dontos

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 10 April 2014 20:54 (ten years ago) link

Well, in the books, Dontos turns out to be Benjen, oops, spoilers.

There are at least fifteen characters in this that I would happily kill off immediately if it meant freeing up space for trash talking and machinations courtesy of Vary and Littlefinger.

Looking forward to LF's impending fatherhood issues with the creepy breastfeeding child as well.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 April 2014 11:47 (ten years ago) link

Varys, ahem.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 April 2014 11:47 (ten years ago) link

There's only been this one new ep, right? Eh, it was OK. Lots of people grouching around, plus requisite gratuitous boobs/blood/dragons.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 12 April 2014 12:41 (ten years ago) link

You could reduce every episode of any good drama in the same manner.

Evan, Saturday, 12 April 2014 14:15 (ten years ago) link

True Detective def could've used some dragons

Roz, Saturday, 12 April 2014 14:36 (ten years ago) link

Well, not using those same elements

Evan, Saturday, 12 April 2014 15:07 (ten years ago) link

WELL NOW

Evan, Monday, 14 April 2014 02:10 (ten years ago) link

And now, True Detective Season 1.5

Ned Raggett, Monday, 14 April 2014 02:15 (ten years ago) link

Not enough catharsis!

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 14 April 2014 02:28 (ten years ago) link

Like Martin et al was ever going to give you that!

Ned Raggett, Monday, 14 April 2014 02:33 (ten years ago) link

b-b-but surely we deserve an entire hour episode of Joffrey dying painfully while every possible poisoner comes up to him and explains why they might have done it.

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 14 April 2014 02:39 (ten years ago) link

You know nothing etc.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 14 April 2014 02:43 (ten years ago) link

balls, Monday, 14 April 2014 02:50 (ten years ago) link

lag∞n, Monday, 14 April 2014 03:21 (ten years ago) link

Tyrion went all Harry & the Hendersons on Shae

Evan, Monday, 14 April 2014 03:22 (ten years ago) link

Man I felt like they might have saved this for a later ep. But having it happen in the 2nd ep is pretty cool and a good f you

, Monday, 14 April 2014 03:31 (ten years ago) link

it was getting unrealistic that someone hadnt killed him yet

lag∞n, Monday, 14 April 2014 03:34 (ten years ago) link

every scene youre just all why wont someone kill him

lag∞n, Monday, 14 April 2014 03:34 (ten years ago) link

For real. Actually haven't seen this ep yet but I'm assuming everybody is freaking out over the death of Littlefinger?

, Monday, 14 April 2014 03:38 (ten years ago) link

yes

lag∞n, Monday, 14 April 2014 04:04 (ten years ago) link

surprised or see that there's some debate around the internet over over the culprit(s), since it felt to me that it was definitely orchestrated by the tyrells.

ryan, Monday, 14 April 2014 04:52 (ten years ago) link

it's good for cersei and tywin too hmm hmm

resulting post (rogermexico.), Monday, 14 April 2014 05:31 (ten years ago) link

ya seems like the tyrells wld want an heir first

lag∞n, Monday, 14 April 2014 05:34 (ten years ago) link

i thought the episode pretty heavily implied the killer but idk ymmv

Mordy , Monday, 14 April 2014 05:40 (ten years ago) link

The killer was....... all of us

*Everybody lowers their head and reflects*

, Monday, 14 April 2014 06:09 (ten years ago) link

i consider myself a moral human being but i wouldn't lower my head for being a part of that tbh

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 14 April 2014 06:30 (ten years ago) link

tho really i think i wanted some variation of Chris Rocks' "Daddy" scene in Nurse Betty for Joff's demise.

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 14 April 2014 06:31 (ten years ago) link

Haha Bran is like 27 now

, Monday, 14 April 2014 15:13 (ten years ago) link

He's bigger than Hodor

, Monday, 14 April 2014 15:14 (ten years ago) link

I'm more happy about Shae now being out of the picture than I am about Joffrey. At least, I hope she's out of the picture.
