I like the "I'm doing a faux-casual shoot for GQ and I've got 15 minutes"-ness of that album cover.

I can't say I'm a huge fan. I like the electronic touches but generally speaking it's not that great. It sounds like monotonous background music. I hate talking bad about music, but it truly feels tedious, and people have accused me of listening to really boring, elevator music.

I'm going to give it another listen. The last track ("Heavy Seas of Love") is really nice.

two months pass...

"Heavy Seeds of Love" is the indie "Bound 2" (and also strangely redolent of Jon Secada's "Another Day Without You".) I'm not sure about the album so far - a lot of it sounds like a sort of failed attempt to make an avant-garde Sade album.

I really like this album. In a way it is quite mature. Nothing really exciting but in a crappy year like 2014 this is top-notch stuff. By the way I never understood the fuss about Parklife. I found it really disappointing after the two phantastic albums before. It was more or less their sell-out. I blame the mediocrity of Parklife to Oasis. They had entered an unhealthy competition. Their next good album was 13. And it was their last.

That came later

but it started in 1994 when parklife and the first oasis album came out around the same time in spring.

Oasis were pretty much unheard of when Parklife was released

Title track from this album is a serious earworm.

Don't think the Oasis album came out till the autumn of 1994. No one had heard of Oasis when Parklife was being recorded and Girls & Boys was a big hit before Oasis did anything. The "unhealthy competition" was more about 1995 and Great Escape.
