Probably something about burning kings' blood

I have such an ethereal crush on carice van houten (mostly bc of her witch in Black Death, tbh)

Why wouldn't the hound allow her to heat a sword and cauterize it that way - no fire!

IANAD, of course.

He is on "the list" so that might be a stupid move.

I really enjoyed Emilia Clarke's line read on "Take off your clothes". I've been muttering it to myself in her Madonna-esque accent all morning.

disappointed to see that the actor who plays hot pie has deleted his tweet demanding the murder/execution of jon venables, believe it closed w/ "maybe then I wouldn't be so angry"

I like the prince of dorn, a horny good guy I can get behind

I was so tense during that last scene, like I knew someone was going to go flyin' through the moon door but couldn't quite decide who

kinder, Monday, 19 May 2014 21:54 (nine years ago) link

Disappointing he didn't go full Taffin and end with "maybe you shouldn't be living heeeeeeeeeeeeere!".

Yuri Bashment (ShariVari), Monday, 19 May 2014 22:35 (nine years ago) link

I was glad to see Hot Pie again. Sort of comforting to know that in the midst of all this blood and chaos, he's just been chilling at the tavern making kidney pies and pontificating about gravy.

ha, yeah, this might be the only truly chill scene in the entire series.

lady mcwitchtits seemed pretty chill in that bath, getting her calgon on

balls, Tuesday, 20 May 2014 02:42 (nine years ago) link

yet she's too creepy to really make a scene chill

I wonder how they break down the writing gigs because the dialogue in the scene with Arya, the Hound and the dying man can't be by the same people who write the Essos or Night's Watch scenes. That whole exchange about death was on another level. "Nothing isn't better or worse than anything. Nothing is just nothing."

Littlefinger's accent is one of the show's seven wonders. "What shall it be today? Johnson from Peep Show? Rob Brydon caught between impersonations? A Welshman trying to sound Irish? An Irishman trying to sound Welsh? Why not all of them? Yeeeeesss."

What is wrong with songs? Absolutely nothing. Songs are great. (DL), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 13:19 (nine years ago) link

Daario most unconvincing lover man ever

daario v.1 definitely seemed to have a sinister edge that this guy is lacking. He reminds me more of Ellis from Die Hard (Daenerys! Bubby! I'm your white knight!) than a dangerous sellsword with nebulous motives.

Daario v1 had crazy eyes and iirc a cool ponytail, Daario v2 has a nice recipe for baked apple fritters that he got from his grandma

haha it's true

Daario v2 wants to know if you have any questions about our deals on flatscreens here at Best Buy.

Evan, Tuesday, 20 May 2014 14:19 (nine years ago) link

when Daario v2 pissed on the ground after defeating the opposing champion, he was also extinguishing glowing ash from the previous night's campfire, as he noted that the dry conditions and strong winds in the area amplified the potential for brushfires

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 20 May 2014 14:24 (nine years ago) link

ha he is on orphan black!

akm, Tuesday, 20 May 2014 14:40 (nine years ago) link

daario 1 had that uber-douchey super confidence that women are viscerally repelled by but also ultimately can't resist (fyi).

ryan, Tuesday, 20 May 2014 14:46 (nine years ago) link

Daario v2 is a known master of knife throwing, famous for having won many tournaments all over the land.

But you should see what he can do with an ultimate frisbee.

sitting on a claud all day gotta make your butt numb (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:30 (nine years ago) link

If they'd written it more as her venting years of frustration against an easy target that would've been OK.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:34 (nine years ago) link

yeah, exactly! it was right there!
tbf, the actress playing sansa is not spectacular.

sitting on a claud all day gotta make your butt numb (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:35 (nine years ago) link

that was probably the intent but i think what failed in that scene wasn't the writing as much as the directing and via that the acting.

christmas candy bar (al leong), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:36 (nine years ago) link

how much actual time is supposed to have passed between the beginning of season 1 and now? because arya is about 5'9" now.

christmas candy bar (al leong), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:37 (nine years ago) link

I think two years at least.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:39 (nine years ago) link

I'm not sure it's ever made entirely clear how they mark the passing of years in Westeros (and I've read the books!). Are there like mini seasons on top of the years-long summers and winters?

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:40 (nine years ago) link

I think it's the writing that got messed up, because:

in that same chapter little robert arryn comes along with his doll and starts destroying her snow castle, like the little jerk that he is. So Sansa in an attempt to stop him grabs the doll and accidentally rips it head off

The accumulated trauma idea could've been pulled off, but that's the responsibility of the writing and at the discretion of the direction/editing. As is, everything happened so quickly (like they were antsy to get to The Kiss) that any motivating factor got shortchanged.

Call the Doctorb, the B is for Brownstein (Leee), Tuesday, 20 May 2014 17:46 (nine years ago) link

i think w/that exact dialogue you could have shown sansa kinda getting worked up a bit more, or differently, making it clear that it's really about something else entirely, and making her apology play like her snapping out of it, rather than this sort of generic bratty kid and exasperated girl thing that plays like a dumb overreaction.
