HBO adaptation of Game of Thrones - will this be just for nerds? (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)

Tyrion asks Shae if she ever enjoyed their time together — if she ever cared for his embrace, if she ever truly loved him. The answer she gives doubles as her own death sentence.
“More than anything,” she said, “my giant of Lannister.”
That was the worst thing you could have said, sweetling.
Tyrion slid a hand under his father’s chain, and twisted. The links tightened, digging into her neck. “For hands of gold are always cold, but a woman’s hands are warm,” he said. He gave cold hands another twist as the warm ones beat away his tears.

For once, his father did what Tyrion asked him. The proof was the sudden stench, as his bowels loosed in the moment of death. Well, he was in the right place for it, Tyrion thought. But the stink that filled the privy gave ample evidence that the oft-repeated jape about his father was just another lie.

That was an element missing from the show

that whole tree thing & the skeleton soldiers was like an evil dead lotr fanfiction video game. so dumb. i like bran but I'm so tiiiiired of that fucking storyline enough already

it wldve been better if the crying man unwrapped his bundle and it was a burned up jon snow and he was all lol jk not sad just thought u cld use a good laff and everyone had one

someone needs to tell danerys that chaining up the dragons is only going to be a solution for like 2 seconds and then it's buckets of crispy-fried-children city

I thought she was leaving the dragons to die and then calling a hunt for the remaining one.

I thought Arya might meet Gendry at the shore but that might be a coincidence too far.

I actually really liked that bit with the old man in the nice tree. I happened to be looking at one of my Charles Vess art books last night and it had his art for Storm Of Swords, including that tree and the wildling attacks.

This has nothing to do with recent episodes but I'm always confused why people make such a big deal of the show's sex/nudity. If I was describing the show to someone, I wouldn't think that element was worth mentioning. Some people speak like it's Philip Jose Farmer adapted by Jean Rollin.

Yeah I forgot about that. As far as we know, Gendy is still in a tiny boat in the middle of the ocean.

too bad they messed up the mountain casting.

they should have done the "this surgery will change him" thing before the recasting

I have a feeling we'll see the ol' Hound again. We didn't actually see him die. Plus he has to face off against The Mountain.

I'm pretty sure the Hound lives. When has this show ever skipped an opportunity for an on-screen death? Plus it basically cut from "The Mountain's gonna be back - and freaky!" to The Hound's "death". I know this show delights in killing off characters we're invested in, but it feels like there's some unfinished business here.

i don't know if it matters but technically ned was not a king or otherwise royal. would robb being declared king retroactively give a step brother royal blood?

the starks were kings of the north before the targaryens came and united the seven kingdoms, don't know if that counts.

Some book fans are saying that one of the characters who died this season is not really dead.

The Hound seems like the only contender for proper life. Ygritte might turn into a white walker. I'm still holding out a tiny hope for Oberyn being reconstructed by the Lord Of Light.
Maybe some flying creature saved Lysa.

oh was there a tip-off to where Arya's going on the salt ship? She had the magic Braavos coin that makes the Captain grant her a wish, and she said she wanted to go to the Wall... but she seemed excited when he said he was going to Braavos. Seems like Braavos would make for some more entertaining hijinks than more trudging around the North.

And do they say where Tyrion and Varys are headed?

I hope next season is The Real World Braavos and they all live together in a party pad on the beach.
