As well as Gendry that wild girl who protected Bran has been gone a long time. Didn't she leave with somebody?

Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 17 June 2014 15:52 (nine years ago) link

She's gone off to enforce health and safety regs in King's Landing

, Tuesday, 17 June 2014 15:53 (nine years ago) link

Gendry that wild girl?

Gendry is Robert Baratheons bastard. He is last seen in a boat somewhere.

The wild girl is somewhere looking after Bran's little bro.

Evan, Tuesday, 17 June 2014 15:54 (nine years ago) link

there is a missing comma in that post

Still waiting for the Gawker Morning After

, Tuesday, 17 June 2014 17:38 (nine years ago) link

As soon as I saw that we were getting a Daenaerys scene I skipped right through. This entire show is better if you just skip the entire sets of characters and entire civilizations you don't care for. Also... Makes the show much much shorter.

That blonde wig chick drives me nuts. I can't tell you how little I care about her or her storyline. A eunuch perving on a bathing woman is a strange encapsulation of why this subplot is so boring.

so i just watched this series from episode one over the last ten days or so. good that i can do other stuff with my time now.

yeah do we know what happened to osha and rennick? weren't they heading to castle black, which bran & co are now presumably miles and miles beyond?

also, has anyone in the history of westeros ever died of natural causes?

had to look it up but according to the game of thrones wiki:

Bran arranged for Osha to bring Rickon to the holdfast of Greatjon Umber, the Lord of Last Hearth and the head of House Umber. Lord Umber was a loyal ally of the Starks. This arrangement also suited Osha because she was unwilling to travel to the north with Bran and company due to the threat of the White Walkers.

so presumably rickon and osha are chilling with the Umbers.

Boris Babacar Diaw-Riffiod (Clay), Wednesday, 18 June 2014 05:22 (nine years ago) link

i have no idea who the umbers are but cool, glad to have that explained without going on a spoiler-ful google search of my own.

Merdeyeux, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 05:28 (nine years ago) link

they're just some loyal vassals of house stark, or i guess were vassals of house stark since there basically is no house stark anymore. back in season one when that one big dude kinda talked down to Robb when the war was beginning and Robb's wolf ended up biting the guy's finger(s?) off, that dude was Greatjon Umber i think.

Boris Babacar Diaw-Riffiod (Clay), Wednesday, 18 June 2014 05:31 (nine years ago) link

ahhh that guy.

feels a bit like my wild binge on this show has desensitized me to, well, everything. if i commit any inhumanly monstrous acts over the next couple of days i'm pinning the blame entirely on grrm.

Merdeyeux, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 05:38 (nine years ago) link

Guns don't kill people, GRRM does.

Call the Doctorb, the B is for Brownstein (Leee), Wednesday, 18 June 2014 05:42 (nine years ago) link

at least if i try to crush someone's skull with my hands they'll probably come out of it okay.

the end of this season seems remarkably open-ended, i'm not really sure what i should be anticipating. tyrion's off somewhere to do something, arya likewise, king's landing's in unpredictable turmoil (handy for the tyrells, i suppose), stannis and jon will be chilling together till the white walkers appear, bran will keep chomping down the peyote...

Merdeyeux, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 05:53 (nine years ago) link

I think that's the best way to get into the show honestly. I did two seasons in one or two days and I wanted more. Unfortunately, season 3 was new and pretty expensive and I didn't have internet. I ended up turning to the streets. Going up to strangers asking "Hey man you got any season 3? Maybe a minute clip? I'll even take deleted scenes"

Dreamland, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 05:56 (nine years ago) link

things got dark, lonely..

Dreamland, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 05:56 (nine years ago) link

ha. yeah tbh i'm not even sure how much i like the show, but nevertheless i couldn't stop putting on episode after episode.

Is Melisandre old enough to be Jon Snow's mother? That was a weird look she was giving him.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 12:17 (nine years ago) link

can anyone remember exactly what Caitlin and Ned have said about Jon's mother? have there been any hints at all about who she might be?

Brio2, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:18 (nine years ago) link

Ned refused to tell Cat who she was, Cat surmised it was a whore.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:30 (nine years ago) link

there's a ton of hints in the book by this point but they haven't really carried any of them through to the show. all we know show-wise is that ned came back from fighting in robert's war with baby jon, told cat that jon was his bastard son and refused to tell her who the mother was.

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:36 (nine years ago) link

a lot of discussion *around* this topic on this thread at the start of the season. still feel like the show is dropping the ball on this though. and the historical context more generally!

ryan, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:45 (nine years ago) link

this is the popular theory fwiw seems like its prob true http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/548862/20140421/game-thrones-history-jon-snow-spoilers.htm

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:46 (nine years ago) link

i dont actually know whether i'm allowed to expound on that in this thread, since jon's parents havent been revealed yet in the books so everything beyond what i just posted is technically just speculation, but there's a very well-supported theory that is a lot more obvious to Book Readers who have a better grasp of the backstory

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:47 (nine years ago) link

yeah. I don't think melisandre necessarily knows what Jon's whole deal is, but I think she sees a that there is *something* important about him.

ryan, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:50 (nine years ago) link

Don't forget that Melisandre claims to be able to prognosticate the future in her flames *hint hint*

, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:53 (nine years ago) link

shes totally gonna bone the hell out of jon snow

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 13:54 (nine years ago) link

she's gonna bone the hell INTO him

o sht

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 14:00 (nine years ago) link

****POSSIBLE SPOILERS****

isn't there a theory that Jon might also be who melisandre thinks Stannis is? (or perhaps who she is manipulating him into thinking he is)

ryan, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 14:03 (nine years ago) link

Nah

, Wednesday, 18 June 2014 14:04 (nine years ago) link

There was a line on the show this season from Oberyn that some fans took as a hint about Jon Snow's parentage
