is this the thread where we talk about Tigers Jaw's "Charmer"? because I am liking Tigers Jaw's "Charmer" quite a bit.

every recommendation in this thread should come with a Singy/Shouty Gauge ... like:
"digging the new Burrowing Deep Into A Blanket Of Stars album ... 70/30 Singy/Shouty ... stream it here: LINK"
i like guitars and emo/pop-punk/bullshit, and i don't mind shouty but i prefer singy ... or at least some singy mixed in with the shouty. knowing right where a record falls on that spectrum would be sweet.
― alpine static, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 01:58 (nine years ago) link
oh yeah that's probably a good idea
driver friendly is like 100/0 singy/shouty. it is definitely not as good as bury a dream though
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Wednesday, 9 July 2014 07:13 (nine years ago) link
Yeah it's not quite as striking as Bury a Dream, but their records always sound so good. Every tone on this album is so crisp and alert; I wish more albums were produced like this
― Evan R, Wednesday, 9 July 2014 14:25 (nine years ago) link
i'm really coming around to the driver friendly now actually. way more upbeat than bury a dream but i think "undone" is one of their best songs. also yeah best guitar tones in the game
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 14 July 2014 19:44 (nine years ago) link
and now i can't stop listening to it. it's on spotify for, uh, easier listening than youtube http://open.spotify.com/album/40PYpebL41PqseFC7SgrgX

and so far the new dikembe is very good http://pitchfork.com/advance/496-mediumship/
100/0 singy/shouty although i don't think they can really sing
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 15 July 2014 17:37 (nine years ago) link
Do people on thread know Basement? Never heard of them but apparently an English band that went on hiatus in 2012 and just reunited. Not really a band name amenable to ILX search. Maybe 80/20 singy/shouty and this new song is really good:
http://noisey.vice.com/blog/basement-summers-colour-further-sky-premiere
Their previous album Colourmeinkindness is on spotify and is great, reminds me a bit of Balance and Composure with the chunky 90s alt-rock aspects.

Milwaukee's Sugar Stems aren't really emo or pop-punk BUT they are very poppy and they're on Dirtnap (punky!) and there is no rolling power-pop or even indie thread (that I can find) so I have to post here that their new album has quickly become one of my favorites of 2014. the hooks on this thing are out of control:
http://www.avclub.com/article/hear-sugar-stems-starry-eyed-new-power-pop-album-o-206908
i think it sounds like The Muffs if Kim hadn't ever discovered punk rock.
if there is a better thread for this, lemme know, otherwise i figure you melody-friendly lot might like it.

doing awesome in this thread right now
Just discovered this Joyce Manor album and enjoying it a ton. It's notably succinct, 10 bursts of hi quality emoish pop punk in about 19 minutes.

Here's the great opening track, "Christmas Card":

yeah basically i've been playing nothing but Joyce Manor and The Hotelier for several days
― alpine static, Friday, 5 September 2014 03:12 (nine years ago) link
love the JM album, almost as good as their self-titled
― Simon H., Friday, 5 September 2014 03:14 (nine years ago) link
that joyce manor record ROCKS
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 5 September 2014 03:16 (nine years ago) link
they do more with 19 minutes than the vast majority of bands do with 40, it's awesome
― alpine static, Friday, 5 September 2014 03:24 (nine years ago) link
esp love "Victoria" and "Cataline Fight Song," more bands need to be doing great things in 100 seconds or less
― Simon H., Friday, 5 September 2014 03:25 (nine years ago) link
haha since the Joyce Manor was news to no one but me, is everyone also enjoying the new RVIVR track as much as I am? been playing it on a loop, from a new EP coming in about two weeks:

I like how the first track seems to end in a natural place and you're thinking ok that was a really good song but then it's like syke we're not done here and whacks you in the side of the head with a massive group singalong coda
