i like guitars and emo/pop-punk/bullshit, and i don't mind shouty but i prefer singy ... or at least some singy mixed in with the shouty. knowing right where a record falls on that spectrum would be sweet.

driver friendly is like 100/0 singy/shouty. it is definitely not as good as bury a dream though

Yeah it's not quite as striking as Bury a Dream, but their records always sound so good. Every tone on this album is so crisp and alert; I wish more albums were produced like this

i'm really coming around to the driver friendly now actually. way more upbeat than bury a dream but i think "undone" is one of their best songs. also yeah best guitar tones in the game

Do people on thread know Basement? Never heard of them but apparently an English band that went on hiatus in 2012 and just reunited. Not really a band name amenable to ILX search. Maybe 80/20 singy/shouty and this new song is really good:

Their previous album Colourmeinkindness is on spotify and is great, reminds me a bit of Balance and Composure with the chunky 90s alt-rock aspects.

Milwaukee's Sugar Stems aren't really emo or pop-punk BUT they are very poppy and they're on Dirtnap (punky!) and there is no rolling power-pop or even indie thread (that I can find) so I have to post here that their new album has quickly become one of my favorites of 2014. the hooks on this thing are out of control:

Just discovered this Joyce Manor album and enjoying it a ton. It's notably succinct, 10 bursts of hi quality emoish pop punk in about 19 minutes.

love the JM album, almost as good as their self-titled

that joyce manor record ROCKS

they do more with 19 minutes than the vast majority of bands do with 40, it's awesome

esp love "Victoria" and "Cataline Fight Song," more bands need to be doing great things in 100 seconds or less

I like how the first track seems to end in a natural place and you're thinking ok that was a really good song but then it's like syke we're not done here and whacks you in the side of the head with a massive group singalong coda
