Looking for a Monk album (or track?) that sounds early wrt its production style, though I admit I can't be certain of its age. It has a saxophone that's not particularly high in the mix, though not buried, either. The saxophone is very busy and much less "melodic" than a typical Monk sideman's playing. Boppish. The song I heard was dominated by this busy saxophonist, and it sounded at first like the saxophone was laid over top from a recording of a sax solo, yet the track also sounded very much Monk-led, unlike some of those Rollins recordings where Rollins is the through-line and centerpiece and sometimes officially the leader. I haven't necessarily ruled out Rollins, though the sax didn't sound as throaty and tenor-y and full as his.
