I'm from Aguascalientes, Mexico. I used to live in Mexico City and all the trends are up to date in there but in this city we get the trends from 4 to 8 months later.

I must have turned it off before the guitar solo every time I've heard it... checking it out now

oh my gosh what is this cocked-wah monstrosity

it's like the guitarist spent hours in the studio trying to achieve a tone that could rival the band's frontman's voice for sheer obnoxiousness

... although honestly, it's the groovelessness that grates, far more than the tone

the only single good thing about that solo is the singer isn't singing but that's only good in a twilight zone world where you're forced to listen to the song and not able to shut it off.

hahaha....it's a bizarre solo, for sure.

i just can't figure out why i don't hate everything about this. even the solo i find a bit endearing.

the worst part of the whole package is *watching* the singer guy. as long as i don't closely watch the video, i'm ok.

Rude is a song I would never tire of punching

I don't even hate "rude" and find the "this is so unquestionably creepy!" angle really, really overstated -- it went No. 1, because a lot of listeners probably find it charming

(i.e. it's aimed at the crowd who hears "can I have your daughter for the rest of my life" and thinks "what a romantic proposal, and asking her father's permission, like an old-fashioned gentleman," not "WOW POSSESSIVE #RUDE")

That creeps me out more! Like it's a deadening reminder that a huge part of the population totally digs all those like #BeARealMan #RomanticMenDoThis #It'sRomanticToBeOwnedByYourMan type hashtag advice blogs etc.

and let's not forget: the lead singer has a horrible haircut. She'd be spending the rest of her life with Chris Cornell in '99.

In a Grantland article, Stephen Hyden compared the guitar solo in "Rude" to Michael Winslow making guitar noises into a microphone. That's all I picture now.
