plum tie for the dons there

sktsh, Friday, 18 July 2014 11:23 (nine years ago) link

Indeed. St Johnstone's potential opponents, not so much (basis for this: I've never heard of them therefore they can't be in any way relevant or good). Am aware of both Motherwell's potential opponents, specifically Poznan for inventing the huddle and having a ton of mad ultras who make the Green Brigade look like a Sunday school picnic.

Celtic v St Patrick's Athletic in 1998 remains one of the worst games of football I have ever seen in my life. And I watched that Iran v Nigeria game in the World Cup.

ailsa, Friday, 18 July 2014 11:37 (nine years ago) link

This is gold:

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-match-reports/sacramento-republic-1-rangers-2-3886112

Would totally go to Championship football matches if you always got free food for Ian Black fouling someone and free pizza for someone scoring against Sevco. And you could piss off to the shows half-way through.

ailsa, Tuesday, 22 July 2014 14:58 (nine years ago) link

Seriously, why the fuck are they flying half-way round the world for this when they could just play a Sunday league team in Strathclyde Park? I thought they were skint?

ailsa, Tuesday, 22 July 2014 15:00 (nine years ago) link

Are the Pars playing all their pre-season fixtures against teams in their own league? (NB This may be complete bollocks, but I know they played us and I see from that Record page they also played Rangers. I can't be arsed looking it up though, and truth be told this is a rhetorical question because I don't really care.)

Alex In Complete Agreement (aldo), Tuesday, 22 July 2014 15:04 (nine years ago) link

The Pars aren't in that league.

a curious shade of pale (onimo), Tuesday, 22 July 2014 15:29 (nine years ago) link

Ah, that'll explain it.

Have to say kudos to the Celtic fans: I live near Murrayfield, but didn't hear a peep from Scottish rugby fans, nor the Tweens at their One Direction concert, but can hear the football!

CraigG, Tuesday, 22 July 2014 20:11 (nine years ago) link

Best fans in the world iirc :)

Weird game, playing well and dominating but all goals coming from set pieces or stupid mistakes. Was fearing the worst, entertainment wise, early on as KR basically set up like Levein era Scotland - needed the early goal to open it up a bit.

Dying at this

haha, that is gold.

ailsa, Tuesday, 22 July 2014 20:42 (nine years ago) link

Mon the coefficient! Aberdeen through to play Sociedad, and St Johnstone and Motherwell both a goal to the good in their ties.

ailsa, Thursday, 24 July 2014 19:34 (nine years ago) link

I don't hate penalty shootouts quite so much anymore.

michaellambert, Thursday, 24 July 2014 23:11 (nine years ago) link

Congratulations! Shame Motherwell couldn't hold onto their lead.

ailsa, Friday, 25 July 2014 07:06 (nine years ago) link

So long Tony Watt :(

Amido Balde is apparently a better squad option :(

Loan deal for Jo Inge Berget, who couldn't get a game at Cardiff :(

Yay! Away goal!

No! Conceded shite goal!

Sell England World Cup Goalkeeper Fraser Forster while there's still money in him!

Down to ten men and we have an away goal in the bank just fucking take the 2-1 you dick! Cunts bombing forward leaving holes everywhere.

Could be on the end of an Artmediaesque doing here.

a curious shade of pale (onimo), Wednesday, 30 July 2014 19:54 (nine years ago) link

More clowning at the back, this time from Mulgrew. Legia miss the penalty.

I've had to stop watching for the good of my health. I'm about to burst something here.

a curious shade of pale (onimo), Wednesday, 30 July 2014 20:09 (nine years ago) link

I know he's a keeper and not meant to be silkily skilled or w/e but he seriously can't kick a fucking ball. We apparently knocked back £7.5m for a footballer who can't kick a fucking football.

Missing Samaras yet?

I am enjoying all the variations of "Berget tae fuck" on Twitter.

ailsa, Wednesday, 30 July 2014 20:23 (nine years ago) link

Izzy turned inside out. Forster planted. Free header. Arseholes the lot of them.

a curious shade of pale (onimo), Wednesday, 30 July 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

and another penalty FUCKING MAKE IT STOP

a curious shade of pale (onimo), Wednesday, 30 July 2014 20:26 (nine years ago) link

4-1 and that's with two missed penalties and a number of Forster saves. Ridiculous.

a curious shade of pale (onimo), Wednesday, 30 July 2014 20:35 (nine years ago) link

That's that for the season then, all that's left is working out what round of the cups we'll fuck up in. See yous next year.

a curious shade of pale (onimo), Wednesday, 30 July 2014 20:37 (nine years ago) link

Sorry for undoing all Aberdeen & St Johnstone's hard work in doing good things for the coefficient :-(

ailsa, Wednesday, 30 July 2014 21:03 (nine years ago) link

We've been here before, remember Strachan/ Artmedia? Still it's no fun being back there. Lustig is shite, Ambrose is not so much an accident waiting to happen as an accident that did happen right in front of your astonished eyes etcetera etcetera.

Tommy McTommy (Tom D.), Thursday, 31 July 2014 11:15 (nine years ago) link

Lustig and Ambrose have been two of our better/less shite players recently, which makes this all even more alarming.

ailsa, Thursday, 31 July 2014 14:38 (nine years ago) link

you had me until Ambrose

a curious shade of pale (onimo), Thursday, 31 July 2014 16:19 (nine years ago) link

Ach, he's been not bad, high-profile Euro fuck-ups notwithstanding.

ailsa, Thursday, 31 July 2014 16:29 (nine years ago) link

hey we won a CL tie
vs a terrible team
on a shite pitch
and lost a goal

so much to look forward to!

wtf @ SPFL scheduling SIX Celtic games in 28 days during the fucking CL qualifiers?! Arseholes.

Shall we have a new thread and what shall we call it?

(non-ILF got a bit clusterfucky lately eh?)

a foe who is impervious to their strongest weapon, seduction (onimo), Thursday, 23 July 2015 20:23 (eight years ago) link

I think we should have a new thread. Did anyone say anything silly recently?

Well done us, and well done sheep. Mon the coefficient!

ailsa, Thursday, 23 July 2015 21:05 (eight years ago) link

Aye well done Aberdeen (so far, no jinxing!) and nae luck StJ and good luck ICT. Let's get a coefficient that starts future seasons in August!

#justanirreverentcivilrightshashtagletsbecool (onimo), Thursday, 23 July 2015 21:15 (eight years ago) link

Surprisingly I don't think anyone's said anything all that stupid lately, or not of the quotable variety.

ailsa, Thursday, 23 July 2015 21:43 (eight years ago) link

Oops - thought they still had a tie. Four weeks of no football and I'm lost.

#justanirreverentcivilrightshashtagletsbecool (onimo), Thursday, 23 July 2015 21:45 (eight years ago) link

Wait. Got it.

I had it in my head we played Tuesday and tonight was Wednesday and the Europa ties were tomorrow.

#justanirreverentcivilrightshashtagletsbecool (onimo), Thursday, 23 July 2015 21:47 (eight years ago) link

Did anyone see the Daily Record article the other day where King says Rangers will only be bigger than Celtic again when the fans pile enough money in the tills? Don't get me wrong, I think football clubs should operate within their means, but the article seemed a little bit pleading.

michaellambert, Thursday, 23 July 2015 22:35 (eight years ago) link

Here we go: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dave-king-rangers-never-big-6118402

The headline may just be mischief.

michaellambert, Thursday, 23 July 2015 22:36 (eight years ago) link

Great result for Aberdeen tonight. Had a feeling McInnes would have them well prepared.

They have Almaty in the next round, but Aleshkert actually beat them tonight which should give the Dons some confidence. Brutal bit of travelling, though.

michaellambert, Thursday, 23 July 2015 22:38 (eight years ago) link

I was gonnae moan about travelling till I saw Aberdeen's draw.

Useful away goal for Aberdeen to keep the tie alive. That was apparently the longest journey ever taken for a European tie.
