Feels like it. A bit of huffing and puffing in the first half but plenty of good chances spurned int he second and the game should never have gone to extra time. Keeper error for Rangers' first and poor defending for the second mean it's going to be a long season though.

Henning Berg has a lot of explaining to do. This is a shameful decision in the light of the precedents though. Two minutes of play in a 6-1 aggregate win.

It looks like they thought he had served the three match ban already, the sticking point seems to be that he wasn't registered for the squad in two of the games (because of the suspension) and so wasn't officially serving a ban for them.

Otoh Celtic will get the honour of being the first club to be comedically punted out of the CL twice in one season.

Yep - Legia could easily have won that tie 10-1. I'd expect our next opponents to be better than them.

btw, had Legia not missed either of the two penalties in the first leg, they'd still be in. The result of the first leg still stood, it was just the second leg, the one that they fielded the ineligible player in, that was changed. The official aggregate result is now 4-4 with Celtic going through on away goals, following the Legia 2 - 0 Celtic being changed to Legia 0 - 3 Celtic. It just so happens that the 3-0 default result made a difference - one goal more for Legia at any stage and it wouldn't have done.

The rules are explicit re fielding a suspended player - you forfeit the game 3-0.

It's a shame for Legia though - as I said they could have won even more comfortably. They missed two penalties in the 4-1 win in the first leg - looking like a really bad decision to let the misser step up again.
