Malky Mackay at Palace, tba officially tomorrow. Sighs of release all round it wasn't Sherwood.

I'm off to Dulwich Hamlet v Peacehaven to celebrate.

Release = relief obv.

Flowersdie, Tuesday, 19 August 2014 16:21 (nine years ago) link

so...

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has taken the ultimate revenge on Malky Mackay.

Crystal Palace yesterday did a dramatic U-turn and withdrew their job offer to former Cardiff boss Mackay.

It came after Cardiff submitted a dossier to the Football Association questioning Mackay’s conduct during his reign at the Welsh club.

Mirror Sport understands the dossier also names Palace director of football Iain Moody who worked with Mackay at Cardiff.

Several top agents and lawyers are also named in the document while it is understood that Tan has refused to pay commission to agents on almost all of the deals done under Mackay’s reign.

Cardiff have questioned the level of fees, commission and role of agents in several deals during Mackay’s two years at the club, which the team won promotion to the top flight for the first time since 1962.

Cardiff are also set to pursue legal action against Palace and Moody in the “Spygate” case.

Palace were fined £10,000 by the Premier League last week after it was alleged that Moody got the Cardiff line-up before they played his former club last season in a vital relegation match.

The dossier and allegations appear to have persuaded Palace co-chairman Steve Parish to put on hold the appointment of a new boss.

Malky Mackay and Iain Moody investigated by FA over 'sexist, racist and homophobic' text messages during time at Cardiff

yikes

anonanon, Wednesday, 20 August 2014 21:56 (nine years ago) link

In July 2012, Cardiff signed South Korean international Kim Bo-kyung, but when Moody informed Mackay on July 12 that ‘five of the b******s including the player’ were arriving for talks, the reply from Mackay’s phone was: ‘Fkn chinkys.’ A further message says: ‘Fk it. There’s enough dogs in Cardiff for us all to go around.’

In reference to the prominent football agent, Phil Smith, a text states: ‘Go on, fat Phil. Nothing like a Jew that sees money slipping through his fingers’. The Israeli club, Maccabi Tel Aviv, are also referred to simply as ‘the Jews’.

A football official at another club is referred to as ‘a gay snake’ and ‘the homo’ and someone who is ‘not to be trusted’, while a French player is someone ‘who struck me as an independently minded young homo’.

An exchange with a young player who has a female agent makes reference to a sex act and states: ‘I hope she’s looking after your needs,’ the player is then told. ‘I bet you’d love a bounce on her falsies.’

On August 16, 2012, a list of players proposed by a French agent is forwarded, stating to Mackay that ‘he needs to rename his agency the All Blacks’. A separate text in reference to a list of French players states: ‘Not many white faces amongst that lot but worth considering.’

In a separate exchange a picture entitled ‘Black Monopoly’ is sent, with every square a ‘Go To Jail’ square. Of one African player, it is stated: ‘Doesn’t look like a good cv. And he’s Nigerian.’

Waiting until he had been offered a job to do it is magnificent, ice-cold revenge work, particularly given all the stick Tan took when he fired him.

Arsenal had a buy-back option on Fabregas, who left for Barcelona in 2011, but decided not to exercise it.

"I have no regret about that at all. My regret is that he left," said Wenger, whose side play Everton this weekend.

"It was difficult for him to leave us, but after that you accept he can move to some different clubs," he added.

Wenger believes Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey, 23, is more than filling the void left by Fabregas.

"What is good in life is that someone moves out and someone else takes over and he has developed," he said. "He is younger than Cesc and the potential is there to get more out of him."

Lots of people do that silly tweeting.

I do get text messages from people with sick jokes on when something terrible has happened. I don’t read them, they make me ill.

I hear people on the radio.

You've just got to admire the cold Machiavellian ruthlessness of Tan picking his moment like that. Wait til the moment when it will cause maximum damage, then drop the bomb. It's a proper cunt-off.

Overlooked in all this is that Mackay was a shit manager and Palace have had a lucky escape.

Unless they get Sherwood.

Matt DC, Friday, 22 August 2014 10:35 (nine years ago) link

lol

The LMA apologises for some of its wording, in its release yesterday, which was inappropriate and has been perceived to trivialise matters of a racist, sexist or homophobic nature. That was certainly not our intention.

It is beyond argument that any comments that are discriminatory, even used in private, are totally unacceptable. The LMA remains absolutely aware of our responsibility to the game and to promote and uphold the highest standards of behaviour.

The LMA will not be commenting further on the allegations relating to Malky Mackay whilst the Football Association conducts its investigation, other than to repeat that both the LMA and Malky will be co-operating fully. We will continue to work with all of the game’s stakeholders to address the important issues of respect and discriminatory behaviour in all its forms.

Number None, Friday, 22 August 2014 10:49 (nine years ago) link

Sherwood has now ruled himself out (phew). Lennon is the new favourite with the bookies, with 'The Return of Pulis' now third favourite (as low as 4-1 with Betfred).

Mackay's career is probably over, isn't it? Moody's is definitely. That bantz defence was woeful, LMA come across as piss weak in all this too.
