can I ask yous to continue your sluggish start to the season past the third round of the diddy cup? kthx

sktsh, Wednesday, 27 August 2014 13:15 (nine years ago) link

Oh, probably.

I have a lucid and coherent argument about where it's all going wrong but I'm on my phone and can't be arsed. So basically, stop fucking downsizing, start learning from mistakes, stop selling everything half-decent and replacing them with cheap/on-loan pish, and get Lawwell tae fuck.

ailsa, Wednesday, 27 August 2014 22:44 (nine years ago) link

Derek Adams out at Ross County. I sense Terry Butcher heading back up the A9.

ailsa, Thursday, 28 August 2014 10:15 (nine years ago) link

Worrying prospect of County looking competent before Christmas. Though with Butcher or (D) Lennon in the frame...

?!

sktsh, Saturday, 30 August 2014 15:07 (nine years ago) link

I know! How bizarre is that?

ailsa, Sunday, 31 August 2014 10:09 (nine years ago) link

it's like championship manager from ten years ago

in other news... uh... craig gordon looks ok...

sktsh, Sunday, 31 August 2014 12:07 (nine years ago) link

I like Craig Gordon. Not so sure about the ten diddies standing in front of him.

ailsa, Sunday, 31 August 2014 12:31 (nine years ago) link

Ya there wasn't much nice i could say about the bits i watched

sktsh, Sunday, 31 August 2014 13:03 (nine years ago) link

Oh FFS. Deila out.

ailsa, Sunday, 31 August 2014 13:22 (nine years ago) link

In fact everyone that isn't Craig Gordon out.

ailsa, Sunday, 31 August 2014 13:22 (nine years ago) link

I'm pretty happy with today's result, though I think we could have won. But a point against Celtic is always good.

Spaceport Leuchars (dowd), Sunday, 31 August 2014 18:29 (nine years ago) link

I'm expecting Dundee to have a pretty good season - Top 6 seems more likely than 11th or 12th. I expect the "derby" in a couple of weeks will be tough.

Just saw Brian Graham's goal from yesterday, very nicely taken. I'm not used to seeing us score from headers.

michaellambert, Sunday, 31 August 2014 18:57 (nine years ago) link

I think they could have won as well. We were fucking abject, but that's what happens when you sell all your best players and replace them with shiter ones (or don't replace them at all). I will give Deila time to see if he gets to bring anyone in tomorrow (or manages to shift any of the dead wood), but I'm not banking on it. I don't believe he has it in him to get the current lot playing whatever way he wants (and I'm fucked if I know what that way is, because I'm not seeing anything that looks like a plan thus far).

ailsa, Sunday, 31 August 2014 19:43 (nine years ago) link

Celtic solve our striking crisis by papping most our strikers away out on loan and then failing to secure one who has already been for a medical and got his work permit. Top work, chaps.

ailsa, Monday, 1 September 2014 13:14 (nine years ago) link

(I don't particularly like Pukki or Balde but surely crap strikers are just about better than no strikers, no?)

ailsa, Monday, 1 September 2014 13:14 (nine years ago) link

No Pukki >>> Pukki

I misuse (onimo), Monday, 1 September 2014 14:04 (nine years ago) link

It's a tough call. I mean, I don't particularly like Balde, McGeouch, never even seen yr Icelandic kid, still mystified at punting Watt. But not replacing them is madness.

ailsa, Monday, 1 September 2014 14:39 (nine years ago) link

Craig Beattie has signed for Ayr Utd. Missed a striker there...

I misuse (onimo), Monday, 1 September 2014 18:08 (nine years ago) link

you're getting John Guidetti on loan apparently

sktsh, Monday, 1 September 2014 19:28 (nine years ago) link

A striker! Now, could we not have done that *before* we got papped out of the Champions League?

ailsa, Monday, 1 September 2014 20:37 (nine years ago) link

hard to fathom why an owner who threatened to walk away from Hull less than 12 months ago is throwing this much money at them now

Daphnis Celesta, Monday, 1 September 2014 20:43 (nine years ago) link

oops sorry

Daphnis Celesta, Monday, 1 September 2014 20:43 (nine years ago) link

Scepovic deal back on, apparently. I'm sure he'll be popular, having chucked it earlier until Getafe backed out. He should just kid on he was trolling Lawwell to get folk back onside.

ailsa, Monday, 1 September 2014 21:01 (nine years ago) link

Pukki out, Balde out, Guidetti in, Scepovic in, Virgil still here. No idea what I was moaning about, tbh. Except the lack of a left back, but twas ever thus.

*waits for first game back after international break*

ailsa, Monday, 1 September 2014 22:17 (nine years ago) link

Keeping Van Dijk's been a good effort, especially if it wasn't achieved by locking him in a cupboard all day.

michaellambert, Monday, 1 September 2014 22:20 (nine years ago) link

Wasn't expecting Saints to do anything today, and even if there were more signings to come they'll be freedom of contract anyway so no hurry. Reasonably happy with the squad, though there's been a lot of disquiet over the summer about how the club have communicated. May was never staying, we appear to have got the best deal we could in the circumstances. Goodwillie would have been a risky punt, but may have paid off. Hopefully Brian Graham will get his confidence back - scored about as many as May in his last season at Raith. We'll always struggle to get a goal-scorer on our budget. We got most of the key players from last season (and Gary McDonald) signed up early, which I think was forgotten at times. Will miss wee Nige, though.

michaellambert, Monday, 1 September 2014 22:25 (nine years ago) link

Today's BBC Scottish Gossip reporting via the Herald that Pukki's glad to be away from Celtic as SPFL football is "too weak" for him. That'll be why he was a roaring success and punted out on loan, then.

michaellambert, Wednesday, 3 September 2014 07:14 (nine years ago) link

Top of the Premiership table looks a bit weird.

ailsa, Saturday, 13 September 2014 16:20 (nine years ago) link

Bottom of the Championship table looks familiar.

and she's crying in a stairwell in Devon (aldo), Saturday, 13 September 2014 16:23 (nine years ago) link

Rotten again today. Not much better midweek. No-one knows what they're doing.

I misuse (onimo), Sunday, 21 September 2014 22:14 (nine years ago) link

Saw a "Celtic haven't won the last five games where Zaluska was in goal" stat earlier, which seems deeply unfair on him since his inclusion is usually a sign of massive changes afoot throughout the team.

I have no idea what Deila's plan or system is (or whether he even has one).

ailsa, Sunday, 21 September 2014 23:01 (nine years ago) link

It is unfair on him. Then again he's kind of pish and there should never be any need to rest a fucking keeper.

I misuse (onimo), Monday, 22 September 2014 08:54 (nine years ago) link

Looks like Leigh Griffiths is going to Hibs on an emergency loan. The emergency presumably being that Hibs aren't very good.

ailsa, Monday, 22 September 2014 13:56 (nine years ago) link

that and we're paying for him to watch us from the stands when he'd clearly much rather watch Hibs

I misuse (onimo), Monday, 22 September 2014 14:00 (nine years ago) link

p sure hibs brought in at least two strikers before the window shut?

(but tbh I don't really get why they call them "emergency" loans at this stage in the season, because I don't think they really are. They don't need any special dispensation to make loan signings until april.)

fucksake hearts

sktsh, Wednesday, 24 September 2014 19:34 (nine years ago) link

So Hibs not that pish at all. Or Rangers are that pish. Or both.

ailsa, Monday, 29 September 2014 21:09 (nine years ago) link

McCoist looks worryingly close to losing his job :(

Guinness on your moustache (onimo), Wednesday, 1 October 2014 20:26 (nine years ago) link

Will it no' cost about £2m to sack him? He doesn't do walking away, you know.

ailsa, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 22:29 (nine years ago) link

Will it no' cost £5-10m to keep him, miss out on promotion and add at least another year till their first ever European match? At some point, if they actually want a long term, they need to plan for it.

That said, in the short term, given the lack of £2m in readies, it's probably worth punting him onto gardening leave and getting someone (anyone) else in on a fraction of his wages.

Guinness on your moustache (onimo), Wednesday, 1 October 2014 23:04 (nine years ago) link

Not til after our cup game, thanks. Though on recent showings I can see us managing to take a pumping. Never fear, though, Faddy's here!

michaellambert, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 23:24 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, but I don't think they have the dosh for paying McCoist's wages plus the wages of AN Other less-crap manager, do they. given that they had to have a share issue just to pay off a loan? Rock, hard place. I think they're stuck with him. What they really could do with is someone somewhere in there stopping sanctioning shite like signing Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd.

ailsa, Wednesday, 1 October 2014 23:40 (nine years ago) link

If they can afford the players they have (lol ikr) then they can afford £100k a year for a decent manager. That's an eighth of Sally's wages but probably still more than any manager other than Ronny Deila and Gordon Strachan is paid.

Guinness on your moustache (onimo), Thursday, 2 October 2014 13:02 (nine years ago) link

Lovely opener from us tonight. Something to look back on when the wheels fall off.

Guinness on your moustache (onimo), Thursday, 2 October 2014 19:21 (nine years ago) link

So you're 1-0 up and struggling to hold the ball. The only place it's sticking is with Kris Commons, your goal scorer and playmaker who keeps winning free kicks.

Do you
a) sub Commons off
b) do something else
