i'll probably do the thing where i wait a couple months until it goes on sale, but i suppose this is my most anticipated game of the year

it's 2K, there will be plenty of sales on this in the future. i'll probably be lazy and wait for the inevitable first expansion

It's OK, think I prefer the presentation of AC despite its age

yeah the joystiq review spent 75% of the words bashing on the production value and that sort of stuff then gave it a 4 out of 5.. who knows. im sure over time the game will be pretty dope.. just might not make sense to pick it up day 1..

It was a (voucher) birthday present so I thought I'd just buy it, the chances of it being outright shit (it isn't) were pretty remote. It's good, mostly because it's Civ, but it lacks the personality of Alpha Centauri. Perhaps a later patch will smarten it up because a lot of the interface feels a bit unfinished

it's a 2K game so it will on sale a bazillion times over the next year, no rush

it's the "sid meier" game that's consistently given me the most alive situations, where turn-to-turn decisions are stark + momentous. (also, bizarrely for a 4x, one of the best plots in video games.) after civ5 i'm worried beyond earth is gonna be watching large numbers accrue in space. will buy it when it sales tho yeah, bundled w/ expansion + $20 worth of $1.99 wonder videos.

i mean writing rly, not plot. "world-building." tho the way the recurring narrative of the worms weaves into the procedurally generated narrative of yr specific game is always p special.

Thinking of holing up with either this or Endless Legend over the holiday. The Rock Paper Shotgun reviews etc of EL made me think I should try that - anyone given it a go or know how they compare?

(fwiw I could take or leave Civ V, but still play IV a bit)

EL is supposed to be much better, yes
