AZ is turning into the 1989 WS with new GM Dave Stewart taking a job from his old boss Tony LaRussa. Considering the Kirk Gibson shot off Eck, I'm not sure he will be around for much longer. I hope someone like Carney Lansford or some other odd ex-A's guy ends up a coach there.

M's can't get the winning run across in the 9th with bags loaded and no out; on to extras.

I have to go to the NY Film Festival tomw at 3, but i assume there'll be at least one game on Monday.

M's win, so there are three possible game 163's for Monday!

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 28 September 2014 05:44 (nine years ago) link

I really hope the powerhouse teams rescue us and smite all this mediocrity in the tournament.

altuve sitting himself to secure the batting title. so lame

k3vin k., Sunday, 28 September 2014 16:44 (nine years ago) link

supposedly he wants to play and the team is sitting him, but i don't think anyone's buying that

k3vin k., Sunday, 28 September 2014 16:47 (nine years ago) link

he's starting

polyphonic, Sunday, 28 September 2014 16:52 (nine years ago) link

Cole and Cueto are *dealing* in Cinci.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 28 September 2014 19:05 (nine years ago) link

PIT 1 - CIN 1, bottom of the 8th, runner on 3rd, 1 out. WHY IS CUETO BEING ALLOWED TO HIT

Karl Malone, Sunday, 28 September 2014 19:28 (nine years ago) link

reds announcers: "he needs to get his #20"

jesus fucking christ

Karl Malone, Sunday, 28 September 2014 19:29 (nine years ago) link

he got an rbi single.

i should be a manager

Karl Malone, Sunday, 28 September 2014 19:35 (nine years ago) link

And he was removed for a pinch runner!

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 28 September 2014 19:51 (nine years ago) link

i think the reds didn't realize that he if a pinch hitter put the reds ahead, Cueto would still be line for the sacred, holy, Win

Karl Malone, Sunday, 28 September 2014 19:55 (nine years ago) link

Waiting for the inevitable Jayson Stark column about pitchers who got a win and a game winning RBI in the same game.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 28 September 2014 20:15 (nine years ago) link

just thankful i don't have to care about the cardinals offense for a day ._.

linda cardellini (zachlyon), Sunday, 28 September 2014 21:32 (nine years ago) link

Astros Jose Altuve (2014) joins Ty Cobb (1911, 1912, 1917) as the only players in MLB history with 225+ H, 55+ XBH, & 55+ SB in a season.

not bad

polyphonic, Sunday, 28 September 2014 21:40 (nine years ago) link

HOFer

justin morneau is the rockies' ninth batting champion

mookieproof, Monday, 29 September 2014 15:13 (nine years ago) link

and is anyone outside of Denver impressed?

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Monday, 29 September 2014 15:14 (nine years ago) link

His adjusted OPS at home and on the road are identical, and his home/road OBP's are almost the same too. His doubles on the road turned into homers at Coors, but otherwise he was the same hitter no matter where he played.

local tv ratings/audience size

the astros averaged 8,000 viewers per game; the next lowest was the marlins at 27,000

mookieproof, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 14:58 (nine years ago) link
