im struggling with the reality that a sampling [which approaches statistical significance] of voices from reddit, 4chan, and apparently fyad, is being acknowledged by this many people in the world. basically how did it get this far is what i want to know so we can avoid ever returning to this dark place again

doesn't every added data point bring a data set closer to statistical significance? isn't every data set 'approaching statistical significance'?

anyway, people who talk like that are usually bad at math and science ime. the people who are really great at math and science bring a sleeve of saltines and a jar of peanut butter to class, and they eat that shit up right in front of you without saying a word.

Q: ∞chan is a unique imageboard that allows users to create their own boards. What are some of the more interesting boards that have been created?A: I think that the most interesting boards created so far are /fringe/, a board for modern day magicians, /ebola/, a board where all the users worship a cartoon that represents the ebola virus in West Africa and /secretrule/, a board where ownership is transfered to people who guess the secret rule of the board using other posts to determine what the rule is.

iirc there are more people that graduate each year with a journalism degree than there are journalists employed in the US. every. year.
― ⌘-B (mh), Friday, 17 October 2014 21:38 (nine years ago) link
there were a couple people in this philosophy of logic course I took in college (it counted as a _math credit_ for journalism majors) who just couldn't get the different between falsifiable things and non-falsifiable things. I believe they also struggled on labeling fact vs. opinion. I can only assume they are highly-regarded journalists now.
