downloaded any good albums recently?

ironically (poetically?) enough, i am spending my days, as we speak, downloading albums by bands

i am downloading a lot of magma-related stuff, lee gamble and recommendations from the japanese pop thread

the last album by the band kevinn drumm is actually smaller when encoded by flac when compared to 320 mp3 - go figure!

this has been a good weekend for downloading albums by bands

I have quite a large discogs list called "things i want to hear that aren't on spotify". Perhaps i will download some or most of them over the holidays

this has been a tough weekend for me w/r/t downloading albums by bands :(

1. I downloaded an album successfully, but upon listening to it I found a glitch about one minute into the opening track. I downloaded it again from several different sources (with different bitrates, even) but they all suffer from the same glitch at the same location.

2. I downloaded another album just now. apparently it's a reissue, because when I compared it to the LP tracklisting on discogs, I found that the sequencing was all wrong — the original album tracks have been rearranged & the bonus tracks have been dropped right in the middle of the album proper. I'm not sure if I should resequence it (marking the bonus material with a [*] and sending it to the end of the album) or just fuck it and spring for a vinyl rip.

I hope everyone else's downloading experiences have been less traumatic than mine.

Got the Lindsay Cooper tribute from a couple of days back and it's great.
I didn't keep an eye on who was who and I think there were a few different designated acts rather than it all being Henry Cow reunion.

the album was by the band 'asian dub foundation' and the year was 2003

Cinnamomum Parthenoxylon and Leucadendron Argenteum are highlights for me, though the album in its entirety is sumptuously blissed-out sonic foliage for the spirit.

i very much enjoyed the "Mixtapes" by the band Horse Lords, which I downloaded from their Bandcamp page.

noise reduction is ok in moderation, but jfc these are some of the most lifeless, overprocessed 192kbps mp3s I've ever heard (and I know it's a vinyl rip because this album has never been issued on CD). people seem to think it's necessary to get rid of every single vinyl pop and krak, even when it comes at the expense of the overall sound quality.

(I'm just mad because it seems like everyone on slsk is sharing the same crappy vinyl rip of this album @ various bitrates)

U.R. has it for me, more diverse, their influence reaches further. The debt IDM labels and microgenres owe U.R. isn't recognised, their inspiration attributed to acid house instead (eg Warp Classics Compilation.)
