Half Life 2 - "You're Not Supposed to Be Here" song. Reminds me of some of the 80's arcade synthy tunes as well (thinking of 720 degrees)

oh lord going down a rabbit hole on you tube listening to these. I found the tune 'Zeboom' from the Dreamcast game Toy Commander and now I'm just annoyed that this game hasn't been remade.

--the sound of the protoss warping in a building
--the various approaches the narrator in gabriel knight 1 takes to the word "gabriel"
--the ever-rising keen of a consecutive series of psi attacks in alpha centauri
--the cat lady in the burned-out apartment building in deus ex's paris muttering "greasy green greasels--haHA!"
--the zelda "discovery" sound, but not the treasure chest fanfare
--the ambient sound of the hidden health-cap-increasing areas in prince of persia: the sands of time
--chained mario 64 jumps: WAH! HOO-HOO! WAH-HAAAA!
--the boom-diddle-boom drum riff that plays when you click on a house in age of empires: compose whole symphonies from attenuated pieces of this single sound by timing your clicks on at least two houses
--the gargled, upwardly spiraling howl of a warcraft 2 unit having "bloodlust" cast on it

im kinda heavily into sega coin-ops ca. 1985 - 1992 at the moment, and it is amazing to me how closely the sound design on certain games resemble sounds heard in detroit techno. like there's these two disparate groups of composers and sound designers working contemporaneously and with the same technology making very similar sounds, yet as far as i know jeff mills or whomever has never came out as a massive space harrier head
