Decent episode. I'm as surprised as anyone else, but the Mick Ronson performances were my favorite parts. I'd see that concert.

i thought that bit was funny tonight but when davidson was in that one sketch i was like "oh right he's on this show"

i seem to remember that the ex-porn stars sketch used to not be about sex but just dim people mispronouncing things terribly and generally failing at class aspirations. now it seems to increasingly about dirty puns.

Well there was always that weird sexual element ("One time my eye got sucked out by a butt!") but it's definitely getting a little cruder with every iteration. I had actually heard that the sketch was officially retired.

BTW I didn't see Spring Breakers, but I'm wondering - was Franco's character pretty much his imitation of RiFF RaFF? Because that was fucking terrible. Like he had never seen or heard the dude. Even coming before Kenan's low-effort Rick Ross.

I didn't see it, but read someone tweet they thought the opening was tone-deaf because that person thought the skit only made fun of Al Sharpton

I didn't think it was a particularly good sketch - the big jokes seemed to be mispronunciations

That's the key feature of Kenan's Sharpton impersonation.

it wasn't the only target, but the laugh lines about the incredulity of the Eric Garner case fell really, really flat, so it turned into the audience only laughing at the mispronunciations.

she is very funny. actually like the new episodes i've seen this season. they have more of an edge than in recent years.

they're bringing in more stand-ups and word is that they're increasingly hiring people who auditioned as performers to be writers, rather than people who submitted writing packets (i.e. leslie jones). i think it leads to a show more wildly hit-and-miss than when it's all ucb/second city/io ensemble types, but they probably needed to shake up the cruise control mode they've been in for a while.

grow-a-guy was great. the aggressive bullying by that one guy was almost uncomfortable to watch, which can be a very good element on a show like snl.
