it's interesting that despite jolie's high profile and the obvious award-bait quality of her previous feature, it didn't really get much traction. i assumed that was because it was transparently awful.

my favorite piece of trivia about this guy is that his son was a touring member of sparks in 1976 and appeared in rollercoaster.
