McLuskey Do Dallas and Cell Scape and Rated R are all respectable also rans behind This Is It. I wish I could see what people love about Pound For Pound because the Trux is one of my favorite bands ever but it's like my least favorite album of their latter period, sorry bros that's just how I feel.

What's "rock"? Is MIA "rock"? Is Kanye "rock"? If not, why not (other than race/gender/nationality)?

How about Bob Dylan (and I'll take Love and Theft over o.nate's Modern Times)? If not, why not?

Are guitars required? Why? Is a particular tone or way of playing guitars required? You sure? Is syncopation allowed? You sure?

It's about time someone on ILM asked these questions.

ancient texts, things that can't be pre-dated (President Keyes), Sunday, 14 December 2014 22:18 (nine years ago) link

bob dylan is reggaeton. kanye west is adult contemporary.

Treeship, Sunday, 14 December 2014 22:29 (nine years ago) link

you should have genre tags in your itunes library. sorts out these questions for you.

a ghost is born is a contender too. only thinking now of albums which would unambiguously be considered "rock", which i agree is a boring where to think about stuff.

I would accept this as possibly the best album of the 2000s (it's at least in my top five), but it don't much rock.
