I love the Branigan more than life, it's a good song by itself but her vocals just ratchet it up to pure ecstasy. Especially when her voice sort of cracks as she sings "you take me self control", it sends shivers up my spine. RAF version is really good too, though, but not as powerful.

Definitely want to campaign for Hugh Bullen's "Alisand," which has got an early Pet Shop Boys vibe in the verse (chugging keyboards/spoken word-ish rap), although the breezy high-pitched chorus is totally italo. Great punchy synth production too.

If there's a groundswell of support for the Laura Branigan then who am I to piss in the wind. It's all time for me and I'd choose it over RAF to take to a desert island In a heartbeat. Just surprised so many would go for it over that in an Italo poll.

I definitely get that the Branigan seems less "Italo" - that would probably be my only reason for taking Raf over it, and possibly reason enough. But everyone else seems fine w/ it being here, so...

I thought the definition of "Italo" was in this poll was based on sound, not geography, so I had no problem voting for Branigan. There were definitely things on the list that sound less Italo than her "Self Control".

Voted! I stuck to a conservative definition of Italo, to the point of excluding what is by far my favourite song on the nominations list and one of my favourite songs of all time ("Speedy Like Gonzales"). Looking forward to the results now.

Judging by the number of nominations, at least 24 people must have nominated tracks. All those people should vote and everyone else who has even one favourite Italo track should too. If fewer than 16 ballots are submitted, it's possible that no track will receive more than one vote! Though admittedly unlikely.
