THE VERONICAS, omg the return of

Album is (has been?) on Spotify so just getting around to listening to it now, and it's really good. Interesting (weird) combo of the first two albums with a few weird touches -- the opening track is basically the Veronicas auditioning for the new "True Detective" theme song, e.g. -- and a bit of maudlin crud. Should be a talking point in the Charli XCX thread, right? My guess is that Charli was a Veronicas fan (she copied "Revolution" pretty shamelessly on her own alb).

It really happens. Everything else is an exaggeration and hyperbole

I would say where has this been all my life, but listening to the quobuz singles and key tracks playlist, I'm fairly sure I heard one of the singles somewhere… is that they are avril/britney level famous in Australia and are cultish elsewhere?

“4ever” and “Untouched” were their two main international hits. guessing you may have heard “Untouched” (the biggest of the two by far). I know that one is etched in my brain for life - and that’s a very good thing!

Later songs “in my blood” and “if you love someone” seemed to get a lot of gym replay, I assume for payola reasons (gyms also being the only places I ever hear olly murs in the wild)

Mary-Kate and Ashley? Wasn't their peak more turn-of-the century? Oh well, safe bet that the Vs could hop over them geezers later, or so it seemed, I guess---anyway! They had the records!

I heard today at a club Metro Station’s “shake it” followed by “untoched” and I noticed how horrible the mixing for both is. The beat sounds tiny, like recorded to be played on smartphones, both great pop songs of the era (specially the latter) but soured imho by how “sharp” they sound. The late 00’s might be my least favorite era production-wise.
