Been lobbying this for a while, but fans of new wave / post punk / Television / Radiohead / Talking Heads should def check out the album by Ought before voting. I absolutely love it. This song especially, with extra special attention to lyrical detail.

Also - as someone who has been banging on about the banality of War On Drugs quite a lot, I have to admit 'Red Eyes' is a guilty pleasure or diamond in the rough insofar as this band is concerned.

We should have an option to vote for the 10 worst songs of every year as a side poll.

I can't speak for everyone, but I spend a lot of time each year figuring out what's bad/what I hate, so I like the celebratory and positive aspect of our year-end polls. A worst songs side poll would be the turd in the punch bowl.

Yeah... Just thought it would be fun, but I get your point. Some things are better left forgotten.

I think I've finally selected the 25 tracks for my ballot (after much agonising). Albums should be relatively easier, though still a wee bit more (re)listening to do.

It looks like my first batch of nominations has been skipped. I guess if no one noticed that means no one was gonna vote for any of these albums so it doesn't really matter (except for me, since I can't vote for a few of my favs).

shit I'd have maybe voted for New Bums or Ryley Walker.

It sucks that we missed those. I've added them all to the bottom of the albums list because we're past the point of fitting them in alphabetically, but feel free to vote for the ones you'd like to.

been visiting the spotify nominated albums playlist and just hitting shuffle till i hear something that fits my mood, then immediately playing the whole thing first track to last.

some of my favorite discoveries so far (sadly no room on my ballot for them):

Frank & Tony - You Go Girl - the laziest deep house i've ever heard (in the best possible way)
Tobacco - Ultima II Massage - aggro electronic avant pop, some kind of bizzaro dubstep
Tape - Casino - lovely instrumentals, just the right mix of easy listening and interesting listening

that frank & tony album is lush - did you hear the francis harris one as well? (he's the frank in frank & tony)

Was stunned to see that no one nominated Sleep, "The Clarity." None of my singles were nominated, not even the popular chill-out "Waves" remix with Mr. Probz! My fault for not doing so, but I had run out of time. I'll leave the singles voting to those who are into the singles more.
