found in seattle tonight:http://i61.tinypic.com/2l8zyis.jpg

sick day up in here so i was rewatching the 4th quarter, one thing that seemed to go somewhat unnoticed at the time was that seattle blew two timeouts on their final drive for absolutely no good reason--first one when the play clock ran down and the game clock was stopped, second one after the kearse catch when the only thing they should have been doing was running up to the l.o.s. to get a play off.

This made me realize for the first time that there are likely american football fans not from/living in america. Never really had any reason to think about the existence of international fans before. Kinda interested in learning more about them now.
― Evan, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 20:04 (nine years ago) link
The NFL plays games in London every year. Most of the attendees are international.

falcons fake crowd noise scandal is not really grabbing the attention of the media for some reason. as someone pointed out, the real story is that the falcons defense over the last couple years may actually have been even worse than we realized.

xxp the colts did that too, or were alleged to, a while back, but i don't think there was that big an outcry over it - i mean, it's hysterical and lame, but who cares
― slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 20:25 (nine years ago) link
dunno if the Vikings do this but I have buddies in Minnesota who go to the games and are 100% convinced they do
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 20:27 (nine years ago) link
there was a little but of fuss when indy were accused because they were good at the time but iirc they were exonerated by the nfl and it was quickly rug swept. falx might still be same of course
― Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 20:32 (nine years ago) link
browns thing is weird, are they really going to lose a draft pick?
― Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 20:36 (nine years ago) link
indy also jacked up the temperature in the rca dome in the second half of the 2006 afc championship game, god what a hateful team.

Wilson was trying to spike the ball but he hit the wrong button on the controller

the fake-spike-throw-deep play would have been good in that situation

the bible and style standards notes are just cheap shots; every logo in existence, Red Cross and MSF inclusive, has those restrictionsbeing unable to point to a dollar figure or concrete goal is thoroughly damning though. should've donated the money to an extant NPO and cobranded but that's the nfl for you

I think this past season of the NFL is pretty much total confirmation that the sport has moved into it's pro wrestling stage. It's got to be now the biggest and dumbest sport on the planet, which is probably why it so successful. I grew up with profootball but I think the whole thing is kinda become un-watchable in a way as it just ugly. You can get lost in the athletic prowess of the sport, but everything else has gotten obnoxious to the max from the Commissioners and owners on down.

I always thought pro wrestling was best when it embraced its own ridiculousness, something the NFL probably will never do
